BC Bronco EFI tank vent

Just installed the EFI tank and while priming the fuel pump, the vent line pressurized and blew gas out of my charcoal canister. Took the gas cap off thinking there was too much air in the tank. No luck there. Has anyone has this issue with this tank? I have an idea to tee the vent line into the 5/8 fuel filler vent to get liquid back into the tank and fuel fumes to the charcoal canister. Any assistance is appreciated.

Are you positive that you have the right connections? Sounds like the vent isn't a vent at all, but is the engine supply.

They may have hooked it up wrong, take the line off the charcoal filter, turn the pump on and with the hose in a container see what happens.

Ntsqd, the Supply and Return are AN fittings and are connected as such according to diagram from BC Broncos.
Scanman, you would think they would be better than that. I will check it like you suggest.

The vent is near the rear of the tank. Just behind the fill and fill vent connections, all 3 are push-on. The out and return are near the front of the tank and are both -AN connectors.
Unless your tank is old. In that case all fittings are push-on and the vent is near the front.

Steve., I noticed that you typed "while priming the fuel pump" and was wondering what that was about?
Do you have the in-tank pump or are you talking external pump and how did you connect to prime it?

Chuck,
It is the in tank pump style EFI tank from your shop. In order left to right on tank. 1. AN return, 2. AN supply, 3. Fuel filler, 4. Fuel filler vent. 5. Tank vent. All connected as recommended. I primed the pump to pressurize the fuel system.

Error code 95 and 96

All,

Found the connections backwards and the fuel pressure was not going to the fuel rail. Everyone makes a mistake at times. Corrected connections and the truck started and then ran out of fuel. Now I have error codes 95 and 96. Is this just the relay or did the pump die? I need to get this fixed since the truck is due at the Bronco Hut for body and paint. Thanks in advance.

Check voltage and ground at the pump connections. Can you hear the pump running? Don't forget to check the inertia switch.

Viperwolf1,

I changed the relay to ensure that was not the issue. The truck started and then died. I tried to jump the pump at the test connector and no luck with pump running. The pump was installed by BCB. I will most likely have to drop the tank to check the pump and connections. Thanks for the input.

Good news,

Dropped the tank and opened the top of the tank and found the ground wire for the pump not even crimped into the lug connected to the ground stud. Finished the job and now my truck runs. I like the tank, just hate quality control issues.

Good to hear you were able to track down the problem. I have that same tank but yet to install it. I have also read there is a residue inside of it that can clog the filters, be mindful of this later.

Glad you got it solved, that's the main thing.

At the risk of sounding like I'm "piling on".........whenever you buy one of these after-market tanks you really need to clean out all the mfg debris, especially for EFI set ups. On the BC ones, I would recommend double checking all the hose clamps and wiring connectors.
