Anyone happen to know how I can bench test a factory AM radio?
I have three wires coming off the driver's side of the radio. Two are next to each other and one by its lonesome. Hard to make out wire colors or striping at this time (they all look black). I don't have a stock speaker available, but I do have a working 6x9 speaker with (1)+ connection and (1)-connection. Ideas?

Boy, I used to know this stuff...

I think the case is the ground. The single wire is the power (should be Yellow w/black or vice-versa). And the two together should be the speaker wires. Black seems correct here, if I remember, but I thought at least one of them had a green stripe? Not sure about that last bit, since it could be another car I'm thinking of.

At least hooking up the speakers backwards will not blow anything and even though it might not be correct, the speaker should give forth sound with the wires hooked either way.

With the single wire, is there any other indication that it could be the power (+)?

Good luck.

Yeah, a 12V (+) yellow/black wire sounds familiar from past, crinked neck, bent back, under dash wire browsing. I seem to remember an empty yellow/black male or female plug. I think the speaker original had a plug similar to the taillight wiring (male/female on a connector plug). That makes sense. Can anyone confirm a properly grounded antenna as radio ground? %)

the Correct wiring is black/yellow is power blue/red back lite
speakers are both black so doesn't matter and the antenna is coax so outside is ground and grounded through the case inside is positve.
