Im looking to put a lift on my 69 bronco what is the best lift in your opinion? I can get a superlift at my local tire shop for 550 which is new bushings shocks and front springs and coils and blocks for the rear but im debating if blocks is the way i wanna go, i dont wanna screw anything up with them, even though i will only be doing mild 4x4ing, what do you guys think? Thanks

Post up what type of driving you plan on doing how much lift you want and that will help us with the suggestions. I will say that there are enough Bronco specific vendors now that the product you mentioned should be stricken from your vocabulary.

I have My Gramps 69 Bronco that used to fly across the desert 30 mph faster than i dared or could actually, in my 1957 M38= A1 Military CJ5 looking jeep, it had a bad little solid lifter 283 chevy w/turbo 400 manual valve bodied, fenderwhelled headers puring out the sides like a little AC Cobra, and had 13 LEAVES ON TOP of the axles for a 6 inch lift, that actually only lifted the body and engine, not the ground clearance of the diff at all, while my Grandpas Bronco was far less exciting curb appeal(to me then) but wasnt sky high but had fender wells cut out and flared, backing down a huge hillclimg was really scary in my jeep! The Bronco could get far more sideways before it was going over and you could feel te top heavyness of being lifted 6 inches as I went 35 mph across the desert with all I could do to do that felt ready to flip or lose it! My grandpa and his old farts with 351's and top loaders flew by me with their crazy sirens, air horns oggas horns etc , making me mad too! WTH? I got back in town on the fwy my steering was getting loose? vague? pulling into a parking spot, why steering wheel just spun loose like the gilligans island boat wheel! the pitman arm, drag link garbage just let go! had it done so on the freeway especially lifted,WOW, and driving in the rain and locking up the brakes was really scary, RR tracks at speed, big rigs going by, even pulling into gas stations at an angled slapped my head with the rool bar on the left side of my head really hard too, from exagerated lift multiplied the range of me at the end, like riding a skateboard while standing on a 6 ft A frame ladder bolted atop it. I say big tires and cut the metal!

No rock crawling or anything like that, probably a 3.5 or a 4 inch lift just to be able to fit some 33 inch tires, mai ly will be a hunting rig but nothing extreme

Ya walk in to a local 4X4 shop & they'll only have access to rancho or superstiff. They don't have access to anything else, so they might even say "rancho's the best" or something. The vendors advertising on this site all have much, much better lift components. 1000 people here agree  Piece together some coils, leaf springs, shocks, adj. track bar, possibly some longer "e" brake lines, & your good to go! You could even take your parts to the local shop & have them bolt it up for you...if you're not up to it.

My personal preference is the WH 2.5" lift for 33" tires. I've had about 4 lifts from them. Pics of that combo on my current green '77 are in my gallery.

Be careful be very very careful or you will go through two or three before you are happy or you will just live with a situation that is less than ideal.

There is so much variation in these little trucks like engine wieght, bumper weight, winch, hardtop soft top, rear spare tire rack with big heavy tire hung out off the back and to one side etc. There just isn't a simple answer.

I will describe my lift and some people will tell you it will ride like a terd but if you are in the area of 75182 shoot me a PM and I will let you drive it.

1. Moog cargo coil #810 front col springs $80
2. F250 shock towers $11
3. F250 liquid filled shocks, yea the cheapeast availible. $30
4. Axle bushings for a 4" lift. You will have to buy these with any lift anyway.

The CC810s give about 1" of suspension lift ifyou go by the 7" from axle to frame standard. I do have a plate steel bumper and winch on the front end. These springs and shocks couldn't be much better suited to the load, and the extra caster makes the thing a real joy to cruis down the highway. You would probably need power steering if you go that route though as the caster will resist turning, but it also makes it more stable.

So I have a good ride, stable road manners, absolutely no bump steer, and it also flat tows pretty much like a tandem axle trailer.

Stock bronco spring rate was 245# per inch. You do not want a spring with a lower spring rate, and 300#/in rate springs that use to be in common use on these lift kits (rancho and superlift) will be stiff and non compliant. If you have a heavy bumper and winch the 300s will still be stiff and non compliant.

Moog CC812 is a stock Bronco Spring - 245#/in
Moog CC810 is a stock ford truck spring - 275#/in
Moog CC814 in a stock heavy duty ford truck - 300#/in

problem is that sometimes warehouses stock only CC814s, and will ship them to fill a CC810 order. So when someone tells you the CC810 rides rough they may actually have a CC814. And yes is is a rough ride even with a heavy bumper and winch.

This combination is cheaper than any lift kit on the market and it will be very road worthy. But you will not get all the flexy strechy stuff rock crawlers like.

If you are not rock crawling do the rest with a body lift.

wow, i have a headache

I suppose if you never climb a hill you cant make and never have to back down a huge hillclimb without getting sideways and rolling, the appearance of the lifts that dont give any clearance to the diffs is fine, kinda funny seeing everthing staked on a dif 10 inches off the ground, even funnier seeing them try to fly across the desert at speed, but if all you do is drive through flooded blvds and parking lots sure lift the weight and forget clearance and center of gravity .

Thankz guys ill go to the vendor forum and check it out and also go to wild horses

Keep in mind, when looking at the WH lift systems online you DON'T have to buy a packaged deal! They will custom build you a kit from any of their components if you like. I have one of their 3.5" lifts on my '69 and am very happy with it. After about 6 years of wheeling/ camping in my rig the rear leafs have started to sag abit and when loaded down the rig looks like it's squating to take a dump. When we move back to the mainland one of my first upgrades to the 'ole girl will be a set of their NEW 4.5" leaf packs for the rear. Much better resistance to axle wrap than the older style I'm running now and will also ride alot closer to level when loaded with gear for the trail. If you plan to load much in the back of your rig I'd suggest 1" more in the back than what you put in the front ie; 2.5" front coils w/ 3.5" leaf packs.

I was running a 2 1/2" jbg standard coils(not superflex) with rear blocks, and had problems with the original leafs on my 74(they were just old and in bad shape anyway). I upgraded to the duff 3 1/2" coils in the front with Duff 3 1/2" 11 pack leafs in the rear. Night and day difference from the blocks in ride quality and stability. If you are not going to be doing any crazy rock crawling, 2 1/2" with cutouts fit 33's with plenty of clearance and still look pretty nice on filling the fenderwell.
