I'm working on my explorer 5.0 throttle. Can anyone give me an approximate offset dimension from the relaxed position of the gas pedal to the relaxed position of the brake pedal.

How high off the floor is the gas pedal vs how high off the floor is the brake pedal.
How much do you have to lift your foot off the gas to push on the brakes.
Is that correct?

One key factor is, how high off the floor is comfortable for you, while driving with your foot on the gas pedal.
Depending on what induction system you have, some end up with the pedal too far off the floor and it’s very uncomfortable for the leg
The flipside of that coin is that it’s too close to the floor and you can’t get full throttle.

Brake pedal height is unfortunately subject to change in the modern era, based on the replacement parts and length of the pedal rod to the master cylinder.
Or pedal rod to the cantilever if you have vacuum assisted brakes.

Is your gas pedal fully adjusted and corrected (including any floor coverings) and where you want it?

Oh, this rabbit hole... Fell in it once.

I thought I would be trick and make a long travel gas pedal for better throttle modulation. Gas pedal was way too high and hard on the knee/ankle/hip to cruise with.
Found the generic throttle travel is about 2". This is when I was trying to adapt a Lokar generic throttle pedal to a boat application but the industrial engine had a funky arm and needed 3" of travel. Chased down everything I could find that was normal, it's all about 2" (of cable travel). Hence the ball mount on carburetors is generally in the same place regardless.
The accelerator pedal is generally lower than the brake by about the amount of brake pedal travel. If you are on the brakes and you overhang onto the throttle, you won't be on the throttle or only into it a little bit. But if too much step height you can't pull off a toe-heel downshift.
Try measuring your daily driver. It's a reference point that you are already familiar with.

Placing a straight edge on the top of the brake pedal and measuring down to the accelerator pedal on the following factory vehicles.

'21 Ford Bronco: 2"
'24 Ford F-150: 1 1/2"

Thanks everyone for the input. I lost track of this tread after posting it last week. I got distracted by electrical testing. I will be getting back to adjusting the throttle cable this week. Any and all advise is appreciated.
