Someone posted about it on here after it happened, but nobody ever claimed to know the owner. Looks like a Baja Bronco, so surely someone on here knew them. I would just like to know if they are all ok now.

I believe Andrew knew of them somewhat.

I remember this too....Any updates would be appreciated if anybody knows how they are doing. Does look like a Baja. Has a Stroppe hitch possibly? Horrible to hear of an accident like this especially with fatalities involved.

That pic only further illustrates the importance of a full rollcage in these vehicles. Unfortunately, the hardtop as we all know offers virtually no protection in a rollover.

Another thing that probably doesn't get enough attention is getting these Broncos steering manners dialed in after being lifted. I don't know exactly what the numbers for the caster on my truck are but I will say that driving it is definitely a chore because it doesn't really wanna stay in place. I have tried to make it as safe as possible but this has to get addressed because taking it out for a nice drive is less enjoyable because of how it handles.

GodBless all involved and RIP the person that was killed in this crash. Hopefully time has healed the wounds of this crash for all the people involved both directly and indirectly.

Getting a flat tire on 33's scares the crap out of me. That picture didn't help. Christ. I try to make mine as reliable as a daily driver but from growing up driving classic mustangs, I know how dangerous old cars can be. My wife wonders why I stay so far back when driving....Maybe this picture will shed some light on my paranoia.
Full cage add on has jumped to the top of my list now.

I remember seeing this post a while back and at that time I did not like the idea of a full cage with bars in front of the dash but have since changed my view. A big factor in that view was this picture and the persuasive information Nick gave me. I know the Bajas won't get a full cage due to the vehicle rarity itself and in this pic, that single bar did not offer the driver much protection from the windshield frame and roof top. I hope they survived ok and would be interested in an update as well. Being an ex cop, I can say I had the fortune to never get to a crash that had children involved, I was the lucky one there. Just beats a hole in your heart thinking about that baby.

In reading this thread I have to make a few observations. First, there is nothing in the news report that even hints at a mechanical problem or design deficiency in the Bronco, that caused of the accident. This is surprising at a time when the media often sees SUVs as killing machines with minds of their own, almost as inherently evil, as they see assault rifles. You'll notice no pictures of the Honda that contained the fatality. Next, the infant injured in the Bronco may or may not have been properly secured, but did survive. The role bar did it's job by maintaining room for occupants even after a role over. Oddly there are no posts suggesting safety improvements for Hondas. As a firefighter-paramedic I found econo-boxes to be death traps in accidents verses the evil SUVs. I also found that the media has little use for the truth. All news must serve their political perspective. It's ignored, or distorted until it does. Major incidents that I witnessed sounded like a completely different events as they were reported.

Safety first should be number one on all builds. Especially with these old trucks.

Shoulder Harness, Power Disc Brakes, DOM Tube Roll Cages (Not the Light Bars claiming to be Roll Bars) are just a few examples of smart upgrades.

They are pretty private people, and I only knew them a little. I told them most on here were thinking of them and that I was sorry to hear about it.

Baja,

I'm sure this can't be discussed. Most legal stuff takes 3 years to settle in courts, but I believe most want to know what caused the Bronco to lose control.

Again, I know it can't be discussed and seems to be highly speculative at this point, but from everything I read on the original thread, the gorilla in the room seems to be what caused the Bronco to lose control.

I think after hearing of a few BFG blowouts, that certainly could have been one of many possibilities.

It's good to hear someone else shares that opinion. I rarely hear those ideas articulated about how SUV's are portrayed by the loser, whiner media. I agree.
