Sorry to resurrect a super old thread but wanted to say thanks to everyone that replied. My wife and I are moving from AZ to Ohio in about a month and we are going to be towing my '66 back there with my F150 next week. I was curious if the UHaul trailer would work out ok or not. It seemed like it would when I looked at it but it's nice to know it will work.

Now to find some decent wide ratchet straps. ;)

Yes, it'll work great, Keith. I've towed 3 different Broncos on those U-Haul trailers in the past few years and they work great. The straps over 33" tires are a bit hit and miss so I do the standard axle tie downs front and rear (2 straps each - crossed).

We towed my wifes 73 on a 4 wheel U-haul car trailer less than a year ago from Co to CA. Worked great.

Seems some have luck with the tire web straps and others don't. The '66 has 32x11.50 tires so I am hopeful and will try the air down trick if needed. Going to run cross straps as well as cheap insurance.

Make sure you run the cross straps. I pulled a mostly stock one 31s back from Vegas and the tire straps loosened up on me several times. Kind of scary seeing the new Bronco (to me) rocking back and forth on the trailer. I did not know to use cross straps at the time. You would think a company like U Haul would clarify they don't work worth a crap. I was sweating bullets a few times. Never again. In my opinion you can never use too many tie downs. Cheap insurance.

I put my 74 with 33" tires on a uhaul and towed it from Wisconsin to the Super Celebration in Tenn. I had to buy my own straps to go over the tires. The only thing I didn't like about the uhaul trailer, is you can not put the truck where you want on the trailer, thus making the back of the tow vehicle, which was an F150, squat. If the Bronco was back about a foot, I think it would have been much better.

I put my 73 with 35x14.5x15 on a uhaul trailer the only problem i had was the wheel straps that are on the trailer. I used heavy duty ratchet straps around the front axle. It worked hauled it from Greenville nc to Atlanta.

I rent a U-Haul trailer once or twice a year. My 33" tires would not fit so I would swap smaller tires onto the front. I finally decided to invest $55 on a set of straps that will allow for the size. Worked perfectly.. Certainly could handle larger but I don't know how much bigger...

These straps are great. Works well with my 33"s and a car dolly.

U-haul trailers don’t come with spare tires. So if you get a flat, plan on waiting for X amount of time, till their third party road service company can help.
