Calling body men, help needed

I have recently put new door skins on using 3m body adhesive , my question is I need to weld ( bead ) the bottom of my door to make it straight . I have already sanded the ends as much as I can without separating the skin. Can I weld on the pinch seam without messing up the epoxy ?

I know heat is used to remove an epoxied panel , if it cools down does the epoxy have the same strength or does it turn into something I don't want after heat has been applied ?

Thanks , Dale

Epoxy is a thermoset, it will not melt, but will eventually burn. My skins were just glued on, never welded any part. Epoxy is a low odor polymer, but can give off volatiles you dont want to sniff up. Feel free to pm me, i know more about polymers than I do about broncos. Learning the bronco thing one hard lesson at a time!

Jesse thanks for the reply,

I'm guessing no welding around the epoxy wasn't sure if it could be done in small amounts with minimal heat. We'll move on to plan B only problem is ,,, have no plan B .

You may want to try applying heat sink compound along the skin where you are going to weld, or a wet sponge or rags to help draw the heat away from the skin that is bonded along the flange.

"to make it straight"
Help me (insert picture here) understand
The body guys made me get to straight with a dolly and body hammer, on the end of the door, totally doable. If you got new skins, they should be close, couple of well placed taps- you are damn close. We did use some sweet body filler to make it perfect-if needed-not bondo.
Yea, if you use a weld bead to build up to sand down smooth (make it straight) you will destroy the epoxy bond, and cause all kinds of heat treating/warping issues with the Thin door skins-text me if you need more info bro

I've done it before, I use like 1/8" or smaller steel rod and tack and fill in when I need to stretch a door gap. If the panel adhesive releases oh well you got a rolled edge and mechanical bond and it can just act like seam sealer.

Bondo is a brand of plastic body filler, but gets used generically like Kleenex and other brands.

It is not the preferred brand of most professionals.

As for the above mention of "heat treating", not going to happen with mild steel. Warpage perhaps, heat treating, nope.
