I'm rebuilding a 96 exploder 5.0. Any suggestions on cams or is the stock cam decent? (gt40 heads, intakes, and 19# inj)

Also, With the GT40 heads and intakes is a 70mm throttle body too much?

Something in the 208-216 @50 on intake and 216-224 @50 on exhaust. I think you need 112-114 lobe sep. If you go to the higher numbers, you will lose your off the line acceleration. Comps XE258HR or XE264HR would be good. I run the XE266HR in my stroker. It's a little big for the street but great at the dunes.

There are a couple of threads that have discussed this topic already. You might want to try and run a search if you havent already. Crane Cams 444211 (as a kit PN 444212 comes with springs, etc for the extra lift) AKA the "2020 grind" was among the better cams I was recommended during my research. Comp cams also recommended a very similar cam (almost identical) but it cost quite a bit more. Can tcommetn ye ton the performance, but I am getting close. HTH. Good luck.

I run the Crane 444211 and it works great for a bronco application. Good idle, good vacuum, brakes that work. 300ft-lbs from 2000-5000rpm. I use a 70mm TB, but it's on a 347. A 65mm or 70 mm would work fine for you.

do you need to change anything in the computer to compensate for a cam?
