I having a difficult time deciding on the flooring for my 72 Explorer. I only drive it around time and in the pasture. I like the idea of carpet but an oem replacement mat would keep it looking original. I've really focused on Ford factory parts from the column to the power steering. The raptor spray liner seems like a popular choice among the folks as well. Please contribute with opinions,Thanks

I say to use the Raptor liner and the vinyl or rubber mat front and back.

Now if you use some insulation between the two that would be awesome because the Raptor liner ain't much for insulation but it protects the steel really good.

Side note. Is the color Durango tan or Lt goldenrod, I have owned it for years and color code x doesn't appear on the 1972 so I went to 73 but I bet thats not correct.

If you add the insulating beads to the raptor liner it is supposed to work. I put it in mine and I'll find out. Check out HyTech insulating beads. Ken

As far as the color goes, I have a 72 sport that was the same color as yours before I changed it, color code X. I got a Marti report it says Light Goldenrod for the paint color. Maybe someone with a Durango tan on their Marti report will chime in as well.

Why not paint the interior amd install vinyl flooring?
The kit from ACC comes in colors and is very thick.
The problem with using any kind of heavy coating on the interior is that it can affect resale value. There are some owners who have used it to cover crappy steel.
