clutch chatter or body chatter?

hello ok on my 75 when i let the clutch out it will hopp like the body is chattering up and down then settle out as i let clutch out body flexing or twisting ?? i can bet that someone on here has had the same thing at one point or another,cause i think its kinda common on therse with that said is there a rea that could be maybe reinforced some where? to decrease the chatter thanks.

Common problem. Trouble is any of about 30 things can all cause it. Any wear/slop in the clutch linkage. Bad engine/transmission/body mounts. Excessive rust in the body. Rear axle spring perches rounding over. Just about any part in the clutch inside the bellhousing. Bad choice of gear ratio for the tire size. Driveshaft binding/angles. It gets manageable if everything is correct.

ok,well its has new clutch pressure plate,flywheel,the clutch linlage has been re done,it has a 2 1/2 in lift with 34 in tires body mounts have been replaced along with motor and trans mounts so that leaves the body and rear spring perchs? i'am leaning tuwards the body but that has also been worked on over the years and the mount areas are in good shape dont know how the rear spring mounts would affect any thing.oh yeah it has 350 gears

Have an assistant sit in the driver's seat (engine off) and press/release the clutch pedal at various speeds while you crawl underneath & watch/feel what's moving. There should be NO motion between the body, mounts, frame, engine mounts, or trans mounts. Where you find unnecessary movement is where the problem is.

Diaphragm style pressure plate or the stock 3 finger? Diaphragm is much smoother operating and will help.

Those 3.50 gears are part of the issue.

I chased this issue for 18 years. While gears helped (went from 3.50's to 4.11's) all new clutch linkage and diaphragm pressure plate, clutch and new flywheel cured mine.

I know you said the clutch linkage was "re-done" but what was re-done? My equlize bar was JUNK and so were all the pivot points. New parts fixed it up right.

you know it almost fells like it could use a mount from the fire wall stright down to the frame?? just a thought. but changing the gear ratio would probibly do it, so with 3.50 gear and 34 in tires i also did the np435 tranny swap what would be a good all around gear to go to?

put it in 2 low and see how it acts
