Doesn't look like the same one. The one that rolled onto its right side was bright lime green w/ a custom dash and interior. The rear quarter panels were cut straight back for added room.

It still sounds like the one I know. I will ask my buddy and see if he was wheeling Holy Cross. Did you happen to remember any of the stickers on the side?

No stickers that I remember and looks like he had a trailer painted to match the EB that he hauled it on.

words of caution for a newbie?

Hi guys,

I just bought my 73 and I'm wondering if it's up to the challenge. Mildly build 302, NP435, power steering and limited slip front will help. Running new 32s. Stock suspension (yes it rubs, but I don't care). I'll probably have the front cage in by then too. I'd have to make sure the date will work but it would be fun to see if the new rig can make it.

I replied over on CO4x4, but figured I'd get in here as well. I'm in, as long as no last minute work emergencies come up. We did Carnage Canyon a couple weeks ago, that was a fun trail. So where is the meeting point?

I'm planning to drive up Friday night and camp till Sunday. If anyone wants to get together and camp or whatever, let me know.

Joe,
there is some pretty big areas and that is nice for those who trailer theirs...I can't remember right where. but thety are on the left not too long after you turn of the paved road going in.
If you miss us there head on up to the trail head and park there....

Joe, I *may* spend Friday night there, not sure yet. The wife doesn't want to come, so I'll either drive up Friday after work and sleep in the tow rig or drive up early Saturday morning. Hope to see you there.

Erik ran the trail while we were up there, said it's the worst he's seen it in years. Sounds like fun!!

I'm will be trailering mine up, I know how I drive.......

So Steve, where do you think you'll hang out if you make it into town on Friday?

Probably somewhere between mile marker 4 and the trailhead, which is at MM8. There are lots of places to get off the dirt road a ways and camp. I'll be in my green Dodge 2500 CTD tow rig, matching shell on back, orange EB on the trailer behind it. ;)

What time do you think you'll be there? I'm figuring 5:00 PM or so.

I know this may be asking a lot, but would any have room on a trialer to tow mine up also? i will split gas with you and would also ride along. Please let me know if anyone could help me out with that.

Thanks

Cliff, no room on my trailer, but you can borrow my tow dolly if you want. It's for sale also (hint, hint).

Is the Blodget Campground near the pavement any good? What kind is it? How about the Gold Park CG? Is it better to just stay on the side of the road? I like my campfires at night, so I don't mind staying at a FS campground.

Joe, both of those campgrounds are nice. Both are fairly primitive, with outhouses, fire rings, and no RV hookups. (At least the last time I went through them.) Of the two, Gold Park is nicer, more private and much closer to the trailhead. Shoot me an email if you decide to reserve a spot at either one and I'll do the same.

Blodgett CG is closed for the season, they are trying to clear all of the beetle kill trees out. The GoldPark CG is really nice and close to the trail head, BUT, the road is severe wash board and it is really rough to tow your vehicle all of the way in. PLus, if you don't get in to the CG by Thurs. night, it will probably book full by the time you pull in Friday. Plan on camping along the road. Youmay want to check with the Minturn FS and see if they lifted the fire ban, due to the recent wet weather in the area.

I have good news and bad..the good is this is shaping up to be a good run with a good group of guys and rigs... so far it should be about ten rigs. And Summit county pulled the fire ban, or at least that is what they said today on the news.

The bad news is, I will not be there  Last night while screwing around I managed to pull the tendon in my right ankle joint. I tried to climb in my bronco today and I still can not put any weight on my foot, or use it to get my short butt up in my bronco.

So, I have asked Steve (GJBRONCOMAN) too head this group up, and he has no problem doing so. the time is still meet at the trail head between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. you will depart at 8:30AM, so you can hit the creek before 10:30AM.

I'm sorry I will not make this, however I want to see pictures trade cameras and have at it......Have Fun guys and gals....

Trying to work out the logistics...

Did anyone ever answer the question on how long (at 60mph) a drive from the I70/C470 interchange to the trail head?

Any estimates on how long it will take to run the trail? I know I should expect the unexpected on this trial.

Am I insane for eveing thinking its possible to get back and forth from Denver and run the trial in the same day? Does 12 to 14 hours for the entire day sound about right for those of you who have done it before?

Hey Dave, if it's an issue of driving the trail I should have a front seat open, if you're interested.

I'm coming from the opposite direction, but I'd have to guess a good three hours from there. How long to run the trail? Depends on a couple of things: how busy it is (can get stacked up pretty bad at the creek crossing), and if anyone breaks.

I've run it in the past with people who've driven up from Denver in the morning, wheeled it and went home that same day.

Thank you Joe, I will see how this goes, right now my foot and Big toe are so huge, and it hurts to put any weight on them. I will for sure let you know before Thursday afternoon.
Again thank you. this just goes to show the class of bronco owners.
