I crashed my bronco about an hour ago! And I had just done a disc conversion 2 days ago.... they locked up.

I rear ended an escort..... Noone was hurt. (I lost my front license plate)

The escort was pretty fucked up. Apparently my bronco is like a tank.

I did them with another guy around my area who owns 4 EBs and a 79. We pulled the knuckles from a 79 axle. Calipers and pads were brand new from NAPA. Not sure on the master cylinder.

It had rained lightly recently so everything was super slick and I live on a peninsula I was about 1/4 mile from the 2 lane bridge that takes me to mainland so its even wetter there usually. I came around a corner and a car was stopped I was going about 30 or so I pumped it twice then slammed and slid right into them.

I tried to pull the wheel left but wasn't responsive quick enough

An EB is a pretty big suppository for an Escort...glad everyone walked away. That's why we have insurance, although it does seem a little silly to fix an Escort IMHO. Odds are they'll total it and call it a day.

Glad everybody is ok.

When you say they "locked" up, do you mean that you locked them up? In your first post, it sounded like there was an equipment malfunction. Then, in post #5, it sounds like you just locked up the brakes. Did they not release or something?

Its a 99 escort and she was a pro about getting what we needed for the wreck. She said same thing happened to her a month ago at the baseball field and her car got out of the shop about 2 weeks ago.

No pics it was very dark. I have nothing on my driving record (2 tickets but that was 6 years ago) Never been in an accident so hopefully nothing happens 2 bad.

It was a combination of me locking them up and sliding on the pavement it had rained recently and everything was greasy wet.
I am trying to get some guys on NW Classic Broncos to give me a hand putting a hydro boost in this week. Where can I get a reasonably priced one... Wild Horses is $1100

You just go into an accident due to locking up your brakes so you're going to put stronger brakes on your rig...is it just me, or does that seem unnecessary? it sounds like you could use some better wet-weather traction from your tires, not stronger brakes.

Yeah well it kind of happened so fast and it was probably more traction than anything...

but when i did the disc conversion ... previously I had such little braking power i would have both feet on the brake when on a down hill at a light so i wouldn't slide and at one point i even had the E brake on and both feel on the brake and i was still creeping forward.

The front discs helped a little but I might have some rear brake issues. It was very wet where the accident happened and the rig couldn't slow down hardly any before i hit the other car... I want something to slow me down quicker

The tires stop the rig, not the brakes. I agree with bronco69er's assessment...addressing the problem is almost always better than just throwing miscellaneous semi-unrelated changes at it.
