Cutoff Inner kick panel excess?

After installing WH Gorilla Flares, the inner kick panel section shows more than I would like. It is the section that is below the inner wheel well and it is not welded to anything...it is just flat metal. At the bottom it has the holes for the fender braces, but after installing the flares, there is not much fender there to brace at the bottom. Anybody just trim a couple inches of this section off?

That is a serious rock climber...nice!!! Was thinking of something just a bit less....

I trimmed it back because of look with the flares, but maybe more than you are thinking because I don't have factory rockers.
