I am rebuilding a 76 Dana 20 J Shift, When doing disassembly, There was only 1 interlink Pill in between the shift Rods, It was as pictured below. In my shop manual, It only shows the one rear Pill, Is this correct? Do I need one in the front as well?

Also on the Jason and Joanie Youtube, He refers to a snap ring in the front gear pack, I cannot find any snap ring or reference to it in my Case.

If you're talking about the front output shaft snap ring, it was a T-shift only thing. Your J-shift doesn't have it. And that's a good thing for you.

If a J-shift gets swapped to a twin stick, does a 2nd pill need to be added?

With a twin stick wouldn't you remove the pill between the shift rails so the front and rear could be shifted independently?

Depends on which version you have. J shift doesnt require any mods, unless you want to prevent front in low / rear in high combination. T shift needed something for the front to be independent.

In a J shift, the pill doesn't prevent independent shifting. The flags do that unless/until they are modified. The pill just limits the maximum travel of the rails, which is a good thing. You wouldn't want to have a low range gear with only 50% tooth contact when you are on the throttle heavy.

In a T shift, the pills do both those jobs. So if you take the pills out to gain independent shifting, you risk having some gear misalignment, unless the rails are modified to mimic the J rails (I think JB Fab rails are like this) or you replace them with J rails and a single pill. Also, T rails don't have good detents for the balls like the J rails. This compounds the problem with misalignment.
