I need a new drag link for my '77 bronco.

Does anyone know an inexpensive way to get this other than off another one? Any good discount sights? What about one off of another vehicle? Any that would match up??

So far i've found $200, $300, & $400. (all out of my price range right now)

The one on there has a pretty good bend in it.

Thanks for your help

The '77 has a special drag link. It is only used on '76 and '77 Broncos. No other application. That makes it rare and rare is expensive.

There are ways of changing the steering over to other systems, but I doubt you could do it safely for under $200. Cheaping out will probably cost you a lot more very quickly. About the only way I know of for doing steering under $200 is to have a donor vehicle to get the parts off of for free.

I bought a 3 way adjustable steering setup used for less than $200 from a member on here.

That's your best bet for something cheap. Ask around, put an add in the classifieds. Somebody on here has what you want. :)

Where is the bend? They actually have some bends in them from the factory, as you may already know. Have you compared yours to a known good one to see if you could bend it back like 2213 suggested?
Got pics?

Drag Link where/what/how??

Its definately not supposed to be there. Its very noticeable over by passenger tire.

Thought about trying to straighten it but 2 things: 1-kinda afraid it would be extra weak then and 2-it isnt supposed to be perfectly straight so not sure if I could get the degree's of bend its supposed to have.

Bigger problems right now. Water pump took a dive on me today at the gas pump. Put $20 of gas in, started her up, and antifreeze went everywhere. Looks like coming from water pump.

OH WELL........

Typical. It's the machine trying to get your goat and make you cry uncle!
Just when you're ready to take care of one thing, another crops up.
Oh well is right. But at least once you've got a few of these things done, the truck runs out of things to throw at you for awhile.

A pump at least is not that expensive. But it IS something in addition to what you are also trying to spend money on. And it IS also kind of a pain in itself.

From previous experience, you might want to take the few extra minutes to remove the radiator as you work on the pump. It's not really necessary, but it does give you a lot more room to work with in there and is pretty easy to take out and put back in.
And if it's in the budget, you might consider putting a new fuel pump in there while you're at it and have all the front accessory drive stuff off.
Just a suggestion. I know you said you were on a budget but if it hasn't been replaced before, now's a good time. What do you all think?

Good luck.

As front end parts become more and more obsolete and hard to find, I suggest converting the steering over to a cross over type. We convert every Bronco that came through our shop. It is initally a little pricey, but the conversion allows for cheaper repairs if you do damage it
