What's the difference between spread bore and square bore? Seriously!
Visual aids are always nice. ;D

If you have a summit or jegs catelog the torker 2 intake is a square and the peformer is a spread.

The square pattern bottom venturi holes are on equal centers thus making them square. the quadrajet is a spread bore as such two venturis are very large and two are very small so the larger bores have to spread wider than the smaller bores or the base plate and Carberator would have to be huge if it stayed square pattern. This also screws up the bolt pattern making the two types non interchangable.

Basically, the butterflies on a square bore are all the same size. On a Spread there are small primaries and large secondaries (Quadrajet).
