Replace the oil fill cap. Wish I knew you needed one as I have an extra.

Set your base timing. Don't forget to unplug the spout connector first. Base setting of 10-12 degrees is good.

Set your base idle using the tips in the below link.

Like everyone else says, check for vacuum leaks. Remember that the computer is also learning and it will smooth out over time. I would buy a cheap code checker (about $40 at the parts store) to check
KOEO and KOER codes. Post which codes you get. Ryan's site will tell you which codes are normal with his harness.

Yep, IAB.

By the way, mine is upside down also due to the BCB cable throttle setup and it works fine. Seems to be hit or miss that it works/doesn't work upside down for folks.

>>>>> did you clean the inside of the used idle motor/IAC(idle air control)/IAB(idle air bypass) before you installed it ..... no efi on my bronco yet ,but I've cured a surging idle issue a few times on our fleet of fords by just removing the IAC(or what ever you want to call it) & cleaning it......http://www.muscularmustangs.com/iac.php

Shouldn't be. With a mixture of new and used sensors and components, you just need to baseline everything.

When you have a combination of non-stock parts (larger injectors, 351W, etc) a chip is used to get everything running together correctly.

Stock Mustang MAF computer is used to "seeing" 302 ci, 19lb injectors, etc. Now we take and change everything around which impacts the timing/fuel profiles programmed into the stock computer. A chip helps to fix all that and is really the correct way to deal with changes to injector size, etc.

Mine ran without it by having a MAF that was calibrated to the 24lb injectors but that is really a bandaid fix. With the chip, it runs smoother with much better throttle response.

It would probably be even better if I eventually get it tuned on a dyno properly.

i would ditch the jms chip, 24's, and maff, until i had it running right.

i run the stock a9l tune on a 351w with gt40 heads, 75mm TB, roller rocker, 5.0 cam, etc. the trick is that i still run the 19# injectors and stock maf. idles perfect and drives like a dream.

well my engine is not really stock, so why go and add stock size injectors etc....I am running a roller block, E303 cam,180cc/60cc patriot heads, bcb headers(prior to swap my 650cfm carb the engine was rated 360hp), the engine builder suggested i needed 24lbs injectors, maf calibrated that way, 70mm tb min, explorer u/l etc....i know that 70eb had success with them, i spent about 1/2 hour on phone with them, going thru every aspect of engine components, eec type(a3m1), trans, heades, exhaust, efi components etc-they burned me a single program sct6600 to piggyback...i swapped the new IAB tonight, but didnt start it-i got the u need to "balance" your life speech tonight, ie dont dare work on the Bronco tonight, so tomorrow night i will run the new IAB, set base timing, hopefully have the new oil cap, and check once more for open vacum

hey discovered something on the sbf site,(ty eb70 good reference), it did suggest that a brakebooster can cause vac leak? I have chuck's booster, but I did notice that the rubber grommet that holds the valve in place has a tear almost all the way around...i actually went to napa saturday and brought part w/ me, they werent any help. the manager pulled out an odd fitting grommet, i think chuck said his booster is a mustang II type, any thoughts where I can source the valave and grommet?....and like I said I will try new iab tonight, and propane the intake, and booster(never had vacum issue w/ carb and booster, efi that senstive?)
