Electric air compressors.......

Guys

I've gotten serious into some soda blasting and discovered the my 110 volt 33 gallon air compressor just couldn't keep up with heavy use.

I picked up a 220 volt 60 gallon which has more than double the scfm rating as my 110 unit.

I got to thinking(sometimes a bad idea ;D ) is there a way to plumb them to run them together for more capacity? I recall reading somewhere that it is doable but not sure of the details

I'm not an expert by any means, but in my mind it would seem to me that you would run the air the smaller compressor outputs into the tank of the larger one, but directly, not from the smaller ones holding tank.

If possible you would also want to see if there is a way for it to kick off at the maximum PSI in the tank or else the smaller unit will keep chugging away after the larger one shut down, and even though it isn't as powerful, something would still have to give.

That is just my thinking, I have no real world experience so take my 2 cents at what it's worth, which means I may get a refund.

IF the pressure ratings are the same on both, they just need a Tee fitting to combine them into a 93 gallon tank with 2 compressors.

If the pressure ratings are different then it gets trickier to keep the higher pressure from overpressurizing the lower rated system. A check valve to keep the high pressure from reaching the low tank, but will let the low tank go toward the high. Then pull everything off the higher rated tank. When you get to the point that the pressure drops in the higher tank the lower rating will add to the capacity.

Just tee them together and run both motors from the same pressure switch.

If tee'd together, the pressure is always the same in both tanks.

Back to launching rockets.
