do any of you guys run an electric fuel pump with your carburators. if so is there any trick to it. I see that chuck has them for fifty bucks and says you can use them with a carb or efi. just wondering if anyone has had any luck or probolem with them.

i'm running a purolator electric pump on mine right now with no problems. i have 2 E8012S's i carry with me (spares), and when this one gives out i'll switch to the master E8012S pump like BC sells. it'd probably be a good idea to run an adjustable regulator with that pump since it puts out a max of 9 psi, and a carb only requires 4-6 psi.

i'm going to get a regulator from summit racing and mount it on my firewall behind the engine. here's what i'm getting;

www.summitracing.com
regulator, SUM-G3135, $39.99
guage, SUM-800215, $18.95

I'm using a carter CRT-P4070 with a carb and no pressure regulator. It works great. I always fought with vapor locks through a couple mechanical pumps and fuel line insulation and relocations. The electric mounted near the aux tank on the frame solved the vapors I experienced during warm weather. Look it up on summit for details.

I also run a carter P4070 its about $60 from summit racing and no regulator or gauge needed only puts our 4-6 psi perfect for carbs. I had one on for over 25 years and it was still pumping when I replaced it with a new one although the old one was getting weak but it may have been because I didnt run a filter between it and the tank now I run a se through filter and can see its already picked up quite a bit of junk with only 5000 miles on it.

I run a Holley Red pump mounted in between both tanks, an electric tank valve from Wild Horses, a Holley regulator and guage. I haven't had any problems with the fuel system other then the crappy Edelbrock carb.

I ran one on my '74. Purlator sounds familiar, but I can't recall. I do know it was in the 4-6psi range tho...that's the important part. Also I wired mine into a hidden switch so that if my bronco were to be stolen, they'd only get as far as the fuel in the carb.
