Has any tryed to remove the engine and transmission as a unit on a lifted Bronco?
While moving the unit forward, I have run out of room to disengage from the transfer case. The oil pan hits the forward frame cross member.
Any suggestions is appreciated.

remove all three as one unit.

I did but I had to remove front tires to get enough drop so engine hoist could clear grill.

Only tried it once. Ended up deciding it wasn't worth the extra hassle and went back to removing the gear boxes like I'd done before.

Any reason you're wanting to do it as one unit? Theoretically "easier" because it's just one pull? Or because you don't have a specialized tranny jack? I just used a standard jack and strap for the t-case, then bench-pressed the transmission out.
And that last bit isn't because I'm some bruiser. Always been the 98lb weakling of the bunch, but didn't have any trouble lowering the 90 lbs of gear box onto my (protected) chest to haul it out.
Then the engine pull by itself was fairly straightforward with the minimum of tilting needed to clear things.

Good luck either way. I just didn't like doing it with all three at once.

Make sure your legs are extended on your hoist. I put my engine transmission and tcase in as one piece and my dang hoist collapsed and dropped the entire setup on my core support..

I pulled and placed the whole mess as one. Was the easiest ever. Be sure to connect the chains to the back of the heads for best balance if you don't have a leveler. If you have a leveler connect two at the back and two front of the heads. I got it all out myself, but had a friend with me putting it back in.

You can also pull the coils and set the frame down on the axle bumpstops. Maybe a wood block on the bumpstop to give a little lift so it isn't too low.

By your post are you trying to pull the motor and transmission while leaving the transfer case still bolted to the truck?

Thanks for the feedback

This had been my first pull. I had searched CB, friends and other media. One source told me that fitting up the engine to the transmission would be more difficult than connecting to the transfer case.
I now need to put it back together at the transfer case or figure a way to clear the front cross member. I may pull the coils and rest it on the axle as one CB member recommended.
Thanks to everyone who responded. Everyone has been a big help.
