That is excellent news. It is on my radar for later to do that swap. Everybody says "who cares about mileage". I was that guy. Until I moved 50 miles from town.

Money aside, even with a 23 gallon tank, I was only driving 200 miles between fillups. 150 miles towing. That really sucks on a long road trips. Out west we had to be very careful planning fuel stops in remote areas.

I'm looking forward to addind the saddle tank and pushing the range to nearly 700 miles.

Folks west of the Sierra's and east of the Rockies have a hard time grasping that it might be 200 miles+ between available fuel.

Really looking forward to your long term reports.

Yep had to buy gas in Furnace Creek in death valley once to a tune of almost 8.00 a gallon. only make that mistake once.

Wiring the dash side harness was the last step to get the engine running. I pulled the whole thing apart and removed some redundant wiring that came with the Centech harness, like dual hazard circuits.

I also pulled apart the Cummins harness and shorten it quite a bit.

Then put things back together

I finally received all the t-fittings I needed to complete the cooling system air bleed lines

And made an adapter to connect the reservoir return to the lower radiator hose

I'm putting an R2.8 in my ‘73 Bronco, and doing a full rewire with new Dakota digital gauges. What wiring harness would you recommend? I see you've used a Centech wiring harness.

Any of the aftermarket harnesses would be fine. You'll end up removing a handful of un-needed wires. The Cummins is very simple to wire.

After a few tries, all three lines were in.

The power steering reservoir needed a mounting bracket. Starting with some aluminum sheet:

Punching some holes:

Add some dimple dies

And paint:

Do you happen to have any part numbers for your expansion tank and power steering reservoir. I'm also finishing up my build but need a little help. I know you said you used a superduty tank and fusion tank. Or even just the years of the tanks you used? Thank you, your videos are helping me push through to finish this build!
Thanks,
Casey

Hello friend, I really like your work, I am interested in the Cummins r2.8 engine that you are using for my project, where can I get the cad model that you are using? Or is there a way you can share it with me? It would be a great help for my project, Great job either way ✌️
