I read on the CB forum that the lower radiator hose from an F250 w/ the 7.3 can be used for the lower hose in the explorer swap. Does anyone happen to know what the correct part number is? I
Picked one up today and there’s no way the one I got is the correct part.

Would appreciate any insight to the part number and would love pics of It installed!

Thanks

If I remember right, I’m running a gates 21178 hose on the bottom of my Tom’s reverse flow radiator.

I tried that application, didn't quite fit right for me... Used the WH's lower Rad cross over tube option, which has been discontinued for some reason.

I wish I could offer another suggestion for you.

I presume you're running the Explorer front dress with a stock radiator? I tried the Super Duty hose that some suggested many, many years ago as well and it was a no-go for me as well.

Need a crossover tube and a factory lower hose, cut the hose in half and install each end onto the crossover tube.

That’s correct Todd. Runnning the Explorer front dress. I was definitely planning to go the route of the BC Broncos set up but they were back ordered for a while. Came across that f250 option when I was seeking alternatives solutions recently and really liked the idea of a non-custom, OEM solution that could be purchased at most parts houses. After the feedback to this post, it sounds like it’s not actually as straight forward as it seemed. I’ll
Likely go with the BC unit once they’re back in stock.

As always, I really appreciate the input from the CB family!

Thank you all!

Does that crossover tube dip below the frame cross member? Hard to tell in the pic. Would hate to catch that on s branch/root and rip it out.

this is what i did- it was a complete fluke! i was walking around the junk yard looking for options and this is what i came up with

Lower rad hose combination for explorer front dress, 4.0 explorer fan shroud, OE Bronco radiator with relocate bracket for shroud. Shroud relocate was provided my member "migs" if i remember correctly.

-1989 Ford F-150 4.9L Inline 6cy upper rad hose (Gates 21511) no trimming or under 1/2" trimming required

-90* elbow from Upper 1987-94 f series truck with 5.0 (Goodyear 61460) or (gates 21631). Use the radiator end that has the 1.75 ID that narrows to 1.5ID

That is the combo !!!

Both 21511 and the 90* 61460 or 21631 elbow have 1.75ID at flanges and narrowed to 1.5"ID through out. You need a 1.5" pipe or hose connector and 4 hose clamps.

i used a piece of exhaust pipe and welded a bead on both ends to prevent the hose from slipping off. I am sure one could be purchased

good luck!
