I recently bought a 2000 Explorer fan blade off of Rockauto for my 351 with explorer front dress. The engine has not been ran, and I have a new fan clutch installed. The fan will not bolt to the clutch because the fan bolt pattern is spread out larger than the clutch bolt pattern. Does anyone have a fan that's off that they could possibly measure the bolt spread? I have either gotten the wrong clutch or fan.

The spacing between the bolt holes is 70 mm or just a smidge under 2 3/4 in.

Same question, metal or plastic. Plastic is the light duty version, with a light duty clutch, my memory says it only locks up to about 75%. The metal one is the heavy duty one, locks up to 100%

Mine is plastic. Measured the clutch bolt spacing and it's about 2-9/32" vs the 2-3/4 or so that the fan bolt spacing measures. Guess I've got the wrong clutch?

Yeah, the smaller fan is for the smaller motor, the v8 usually got the heavy duty, particularly Eddie bower and towing package. I think it’s a 4 liter something uses the smaller plastic fan and smaller clutch. They did come on v8s though if they were not optioned out. I use rock auto as my go to parts finder, but, I would not order from them unless it’s last resort

My 2000 Explorer 5.0 came with a large plastic fan. I was able to find a new OEM one from Ford when I installed the motor into my 67.
