Wish someone would make it out of stainless...

Yes, that would be a sweet solution. Cost would probably make it cost-prohibitive, though? And folks that could bend the stainless would be harder to find as well. I had one years ago that was Jet Hot ceramic coated that looked pretty nice.

I ordered everything, but still have to figure out what I want to do about the shroud.

By the way, I checked all numbers, and found a new 5.0 4G 2000 explorer alternator on Amazon for half the price of Napa.

DON'T buy some cheap REBUILT alternator!!!! Don't do it... it will fail...

You are MUCH better off going to the bone yard and picking up a used Motorcraft alternator than buying 99% of the other options out there!

IF you need to rebuild the stock Motorcraft alternator, go to a small shop the rebuilds electrical motors, etc and have them rebuild it with quality parts!

Case in point, my daughter bought a new solenoid for her boat last Friday... store brand...got 3 starts off of it...start #4 was out in the salt water...screwdriver starts the rest of the trip... cheap $tuff is crap... what good is a free replacement if you are doing it every YEAR!!??

Just saying...rant over. :)

I bought my 4G off eBay from a company called DB Rebuilders?....anyway it was $90 bucks. Full warranty. They are apparently a reputable automotive electrical rebuilder. Saw lots of good reviews.

I’ve been using the stock pump for a couple years now. I’m running 35” BFG’s along with hydro boost braking. The stock pump works even when the tire are aired down. It’s certainly pushing the pump to its limits, but I have no immediate plans to replace it with something else. An upgrade would be the Explorer PS bracket for the Saginaw pump that WildHorese sells.

I have the same tire, brakes and experience. It is a bit tough to steer on pavement when aired down (3-4 psi) but otherwise no real complaints. Its on my list to try the superduty pump upgrade but my to-do list is long...

I use a stock explorer pump and have 15x35 fun country tires and when they are flat it even turns them easily. I have out them in a bind against stuff and still had no problems
