Fender flare question

I recently purchased a set of Bushwacker flares from a member on here in hopes of ditching the awful rubber flares my 76 came with. I knew the rears would require some metal work as someone previously created some odd looking fenders. When I went to layout the fronts, I noticed the Bushwackers don't cover the front to rear distance. I assumed the front fenders were stock but now I'm not sure. What I'm wondering is maybe WH gorillas or Tom's ultra flex flares cover a larger opening than the BW flares. Has anyone else run into this?

Fiberglass body?
I agree that the front looks like a stock opening. Rear definitely does not.
Can you post up some pics of the flares themselves for us to look at too?

Thanks

Paul

Well, the bottom one looks to be a standard front, so not sure why it's not able to fit. Sorry to ask, but maybe a shot of what it's doing up against the body would help.
And to answer your earlier question, yes, the Gorilla Warflares will allow for a slightly wider opening, but depending on how far off yours are now, you might want to measure before buying another set.

The upper rear one looks to be their traditional style, which has a slightly smaller overall opening than the "wide" version. If you look at the leading edge of the rear flare (left, top in your pic) you can see how it forms a fairly steep angle down. Whereas our Warflare has a more gradual slope to that leading edge to give you a wider opening.
Especially helpful with previously-cut fenders.

Did you buy that up here in central Maine?? Very nice.

Yes I did. Picked it up in Jay last October. Despite some of the odd stuff, I couldn't pass it up due the lack of rust. Thanks. I think I did OK for a newbie!

Ya you did alright I looked at that when it was for sale very nice bronco!!
Thanks for not buying it!!! I looked at some pretty sad ones for not much less than I paid for this one. It sat on CL for quite awhile too, so I was a bit skeptical when I drove up there.

I did a comparison to my stock 74 Ranger front fender. Yours are definitely wider by a couple of inches front and rear of the opening. Somebody has modified them. Fronts look very nice. The rears however look terrible!

Compare these pics:

Thanks, Scoop. Yep, the fronts are definitely wider. And I can not disagree with you about the rears. Definitely odd, which is why I grabbed the flares in the first place, figuring I could just do some minor metal work to eliminate the funny point. What I find strange is the quality effort to shape the fronts is outstanding, but in back the fender is pieced in (very obvious lump/line inside) and the upper body line is bubbling like a bad bondo job.

Yeah, they did a sweet job on the front for sure.
Why not give Wild Horses a call tomorrow and have someone measure up a set of Gorillas. We've got them on at least one Bronco in the showroom right now in fact. Be an easy thing to get a quickie measurement on the top at the curve, and at the bottom all the way open.

If you don't get to it tomorrow, I'll be in on Monday and can get it for you.
I thought I had some pics here on my computer showing one of them here, but can't find them.

it looks like when te rears were cut, they were molded into the front wheel openings. They didn't have as much imagination with the rears, as they just started following the body line, and terminated it half way thru. They had skills, but no vision!

Hey Slednut10, I have a new set of warflares I bought from a member down here in the SW and they are bigger than the openings already cut and would require more cutting which I'm not interested in doing. I've been trying to find a better fitting pair for my rig and haven't tried sizing up the Bushwackers yet. Maybe there's a trade to be done....just a thought.

I'll take you up on your offer to measure them for me, if you don't mind! Thanks, Paul.
