Just got my lights from HID Projectors and they look friggin' awesome. Thanks Tom! I got the satin black housings and mini gatlin shrouds with blue halo LED and blue angel eyes. I can't wait to get these things installed.
Really, really sharp product!!!!

Sorry about the sideways pics. I'll know to turn the phone sideways in the future.....

Tom, thanks again! What way do you safely light them up before they are installed? I'd like to try that as well as long as I don't fry something .....

DAMN I'M FRUSTRATED BEYOND BELIEF! I need some ideas!

So, I go out today and try to make some level of forward movement on the Bronco and decide to install the lift gate shocks (should be easy breezy, right,,wrong) It appears my guy covered over the holes for the brackets to be connected to the hard top. Now what the hell should I do?
My wife and have been married for 28 years and our motto since we got in our first house came to be "nothing is ever easy" - I swear, it will never change.
Any ideas out there???

Mike are the post bolt holes still there? Not sure what your guy was thinking, but you are going to need a reference you can work off of so you can open them back up and hopefully there are still nuts in there.

Pete,
who the hell knows, I have a call in to him to see if he put metal over them. I looked at some of my original pics and the holes were there, now I have to figure out what the hell to do to fix this. I'm so pi**ed right now.

Just found this build. Very nice. Are we going to see it at SC this year?

Up until yesterday, yes, even have a nice room reserved at the Tally Ho.
Now, depends if I can get it together by then. Really enjoy going to SC and don't want to miss it. Got to see if I can get a new "built" C-4 in there and take care of a few gremlins first.

I can understand that well. Gremlins are a PITA to get worked out but it's not worth rushing if it leaves you stranded, unless of coarse you plan on trailering it. I plan to do a real nice build on mine and it will get trailered to a show or two, then it is going to be drove till its next need of a rest. Can only keep them shiny like a new penny for so long and I am not into trailer queens unless it is something extremely rare. Good luck and if you do make SC, I hope to meet you in person but we have plenty of time before that weekend.

Outside mirror installation question.

Getting ready to install the outside mirrors and I was wondering - in the package they gave me four screws, two that are machined and two that are not. They also included two of those little black nylon jobber-do's that you screw them into.

My question is, should I use the machine screws and pick up some lock nuts instead the nylon thing? What would be the best install method? Yes, I'm still a newbie despite it saying otherwise.

Hey, I was tinkering with the engine last night. Man, it really is running great and sounds about perfect with the exhaust. Only engine related issue is my idle, a little fast (about 1,000rpm) and my idle screw is backed off all the way. I checked vacuum and it is at about 15 which the Ford Racing tech said would be spot on as 800-900 idle would throw about 13-14 lbs. of vacuum.
I have a new Holley 600 nonadjustable float carb that I really like, so two questions at this point:
1. Thoughts on how to get this crate motor's idle down into the 700-800 range?
2. What kind of compression numbers should I expect out of this new motor? (Ford's entry
level crate motor) I was gonna check each cylinder for giggles tonight.
Also, anyone on here ever get any ceramic coatings done by "Jet-Hot"?

THANKS!

I would double check for vacuum leaks first, timing second. Those two items outside of the carb can make your idle change by themselves. If they test OK, then I would look at the butterfly in the carb and maybe drop a dime to Holley. Every Holley carb I owned I could idle down to a stall. When you check for vacuum leaks, use carb cleaner and with it running give it a spray at the base, your vacuum ports (none should be open, if they are not connected to something they should be plugged) and check where your vacuum lines are connected to. If you find a leak, when you spray it will change the idle. I am certain you know the in's and outs and not trying to point out the obvious but those are the things I know personally I have checked and on the third time I have found the issue, it was always something I didn't pay close attention to on the first try.

Been quite a while since I posted any updates since I tore up the tranny (twisted the input shaft in two)just taking the rig for a spin in the subdivision.
So, like divinity, a member on here had posted up a custom made high dollar torque converter that he was not going to use since he went in a different direction other than a C-4.
The specs he had it built to were identical to mine: Ford crate motor, 4.11's with 35's. He was very kind and gave me a smoking fair deal. I even called the guy that made it at Continental Converters in California - still brand new and he said it would be perfect for my set-up. Guy said his father started the business close to 50 years ago- seemed to really know his Shi*.
10 inch
164 tooth
dual anti-balooning plates
Billet turbine spline
Torrington Bearings
Furnace brazed turbine assembly and furnaced brazed pump assembly
8 roller sprag
Flash between 2,800-3,200

Many of you said to pay particular attention to what I put on the drivetrain converter wise as this was important, more than I knew I guess. For the record, until I watched a few "you-tube's on converters. I didn't know crap about them and still feel kinda' lost as to how they really work. These specs mean little to me in the way of understanding.

Additionally, many of you said to bite the bullet and order a Broader transmission as he builds them bullet tough, so I have. Will take almost 6 weeks to get it as he is booked out that far. Hopefully, this will beef things up a bit.
