Firing Order 351w Confusion

A bit perplexed and now unsure how I got here. With as many changes and tuning I have done over the last year coming back from the motor builder I was careful not to change plug wires around but I have touched and replaced most of the ignition components since. It has had a slight miss and hesitation from idle to 1/4 throttle historicaly but tuned most of that out. I never thought to double check firing order coming back from a well reputable builder. I just changed plugs and wires and just double checking the firing order wire position on the distributor. If I an reading this correctly I am showing the current order to be: 1-8-4-5-6-2-7 << Can this be possible and run?

I am really wanting to change it to 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

Will this change require finding TDC again, Restab the dizzy and retime?

Right now I am sitting about 18* and gear idle at about 700-600rpm when warm.

Doesn't Ford use 1-8-4-5-6-2-7 in reverse rotation engines? Marine applications? So yes it could run with that firing order IF it has the reverse rotation cam i.e. a marine cam.

You can't just "change it". The cam is key as it's built for a specific FO. I would verify the cam before I did anything

Check the part number on the cam, what firing order does it state?
Yes, there are multiple different firing orders for small block fords, the firing order is based stictly on the cam.

And you do realize the distributor spins counter-clockwise? You are likely counting the plug wires clockwise. Check the firing order again but go counterclockwise on the distributor numbering.

It is suppose to be an ATK crate motor. Camshaft Specifications: 220/224 @050 .512in/.512ex 112LSA

Maybe I need to call tech support to them and find out.

None of that makes sense. I am running an HEI chevy single wire. Cam in it is no slouch. I will put up a video of the engine this weekend.
He saying you only have 7 numbers in the firing order you posted.

I didn't notice it either lol.

Just ask ATK what cam is in the build. They should be able to give you a number not just the specs.

All small block fords will have the distributor rotate counterclockwise as viewed from above. Check your firing order again going counterclockwise on the cap.

I really feel foolish. The reason things did not add it up was because I was doing it wrong, I was going clockwise which was reverse. Fire sequence is good 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.
