My understanding is the 300HP version is identical tot he 430HP version. The power drop is software driven. Very much like the 6.7 diesel in the F350 chassis cab is much lower HP than the formed frame F350 (truck with a bed). If you drive one it is crazy early shift points. Keep the RPM low, shift points down, fuel economy goes up. There was a place (five star?) that was putting the 430HP tunes into the 300HP motorhomes. Neighbor rented a huge Ryder box truck when they moved. It has the low HP 7.3 but he was also pulling about 10 MPG.
That would be my guess as well. Just detuned or tuned for a specific job like a motorhome.

Good to know.

With a Tune or the Ford Control Pack with it's own computer that's great news. A complete "Take Out" with factory electronics is not so good.

I posted this on Facebook, but I might as well place it here for anyone following this thread:

Here’s the latest update on the FEAD I’m working on with Indy Power Products. They’re getting ready to do some mock up and test fitting. Again, this will allow the use of a dry sump, AC, and the larger body size 270 amp alternator. The biggest difference between this one and the last iteration is moving the alternator up higher to get it out of the mud and water. I’m assuming I’ll have enough clearance on the steering shaft and box (I’m using the 4x4x2), but I won’t know until I test fit it.

Yes, many of the engine builders out there start out with the detuned engines because they’re cheaper than buying a crate engine. A cam swap and tune later they’re every bit as capable as a stock 7.3L, as I understand it.

Is modifying the Exhaust manifolds the only option for exhaust, or is there a set of headers available yet for the Godzilla that will fit in the Bronco?

There’s nothing specifically for the Bronco. You might be able to make a set of turbo headers or something like that work, but it’s all custom right now. Ultimate Headers is willing to design some if someone in the Ohio area is willing to lend them a Bronco.

So is the missing piece to a Godzilla install just the exhaust manifolds?

Holley has a FEAD.

Holley has a low profile intake.

Holley has a oil pan solution.

What is the remaining challenge?

I’m don’t think Holley’s oil pan provides enough clearance for an EB unless you’re running full width axles. The IPP/KMF combo would work. But otherwise you mostly have it covered, assuming you’re running a compatible transmission. The only other thing that’s missing is engine mounts. Also, don’t forget to make sure you have the fan figured out.

KMF makes a pan that attaches to the Indy Power Products front mounted oil pump conversion kit. It’s a very expensive option, which is why I just went with a dry sump.

The Holley pan might work. I’m basing my assumptions on Gumby’s (Texas Speed Lab Performance) assessment of the previous oil pan options. Danbury already makes a pan that is 2” shorter. That option didn’t work for Gumby.

Here are some photos of the KMF pan fitment.

I was talking to a guy from godzilla garage from canada on facebook, they have a deal going with takeouts from new vehicles that are changed over to electric and they come with the 7.3L Godzilla Engine and also includes 6R140 transmission (6 speed automatic) alternator power steering pump air conditioning compressor starting motor exhaust manifolds exhaust y pipe engine mounts wiring harness pcm computer plug wires coils fuel injectors clutch fan for 6950.00 usd.I was told that the 6r140 is too long for the bronco though and they won't sell just the engine anymore, thoughts anyone?

Buy it & sell the trans.
I thought about that lol, when they say the 6r140 is too long do they basically mean it pushes the transfer case back too far?How far? Also would you have to make a lot of modifications to other items to make this engine work?

There is a great thread going on right now. On c, b, where a guy is putting a godzilla at motor end and it is a ton of modifications.

And because it's new, and it's the age of covid and not the Age of Aquarius, every modification that has to be bought is about five times what it cost ten years ago.

Oil pans, dry sump, etc, etc

I think it'd be fun to put a Turbo or supercharged. One in my little Shorty build, which is a 2 wheel drive Bronco building. But I am very limited because of my front cross member, which is already welded in and can't be moved due to suspension limitations

Age of aquarius lol, seems like such a good deal and then you end up spending the savings on a ton of mods.I'll have to look that thread up and i'll have to check out your shorty build as well, thank you sir!
