That was my thinking too, it doesn't take much lube to keep from killing a bearing, but that it also doesn't have to go very far when dry to kill them.
I don't mind packing them with grease, I just won't use CV-2 and I won't be so fastidious about the grease packing if I'm expecting them to be oil lubricated. I figure a little moly grease more or less dissolved in the gear lube isn't going to hurt anything.
