My starter is making noise. How do I clean it, what grease do I use, and where do I apply it?

You dont really grease the starter. If its making noise then the bushings are probably worn out. It just uses bronze bushings they wear out you cuold try cleaning and greaseing but it wont take much time to start making noise again. For all the effort your better off putting in a new one.

x2 starter making noise is an indication it's probably worn out and needs replacing. finding a place to rebuild it is usually difficult because most everyone replaces them which is easiest and cheapest. go with a new, mini starter that comes with a good warranty.

I love my mini starter. Wish I had done it sooner.
I think it was for a 94 or 95 mustang with a 5.0. Autozone $79 bucks.
BC has a great detail on how to wire it up.

yeah - buy an Oriley lifetime warranty starter. Replace it for free when you kill it - WIN.
