Has anyone installed a defroster duct with a complete dash installed?

Trying to get my heater hooked up and ready for Winter. When I bought this Bronco the heater core was bypassed with the cooling lines and the plastic defrost duct had been removed from up under the dash.

I'd really prefer to avoid pulling the dash out to install the duct.

Has anyone ever successfully installed one with all the wiring, switches, and the heater box in place?

Seems difficult. I'm curious if there's a success story out there.

I've only replaced the tubes going to the duct. If I was to replace that plastic piece at the top, I'd start by removing the ashtray & radio. Then remove the heater box if necessary. If the cooling lines are not attached the heater is not hard to pull out.

I believe, there are two retaining screws that have to be removed, which requires you to drop the windshield... It has been a while...

Anyone ever made a custom duct for better flow/performance out of the defroster?
It's pretty anemic in most cases I've found. Very sketchy pattern and takes forever to clean the windshield even when hot.

IIRC, we did it during my restore on my 70. New squirrel cage upgrade, that defrost duct is a pita but both of us got it, not too bad, get a helper to help, two is better than one on this job.;)

I'd say no, like noted, two screws into dash from begind dash you can't get to if dash is installed.
