I was at a show in New England (Bones) back in 2016, and someone was there with a custom spare carrier that bolted to the frame, and folded down. It also maintained the factory rear bumper, which was mounted to the custom carrier assembly.

Does anyone have info on this setup? I think they were from MD \ DE or PA.

All of the ones like that which I have seen were custom fabricated by Bronco owners. Not aware of anyone making and selling them but I could be wrong. To be clear that’s the style that uses a hinge under each frame horn and then a bar or hoop laid on the ground, spare attached, then you swing it up into place and use a pin or bolt to lock it in the up position? Sorry I didn’t have a picture. I think Ian Johnson did one on a scout build on an Extreme Off-road episode.

That sounds right. I'd like to get a few pictures if anyone has them, but your description certainly helps!

Nicks trix custom fabs them for some of his customers trucks. Impressive piece of engineering. They use mini gas springs located in the frame horns to make the tire seem weightless.
