I never said anything when I’ve watched this being written about, because I just assumed that I didn’t know.
But I don’t remember ever seeing that fan on an Early Bronco. I’m sure it’s a Ford fan, and obviously it was designed for the 74 model year truck (and maybe the big car?) line. But I would’ve called it big car and truck only fan until reading about it here. But not a bronco fan.
I’ve seen a lot of Broncos with the “heavy duty cooling“ option. And I don’t think any of them had that fan.
I’ll have to check the Marti report on my 71, but I think HD cooling was listed as well.

So what about the rest of you? Have you ever seen one of those from the factory on an early Bronco? If so, what years were they?

My inventory...

My original '68 (which I still DD).& I bought 50 yrs ago last month had a 7 blade.

My Dad's '69 which he ordered from the factory with HD cooling did

The '77 I bought for parts in '86 did.

The '74 body/parts rig I bought in "88 all had the 7 blade.. I was still moving them around in my parts piles just a couple yrs ago.

OK then! Now I’ll have to go dig up my fan to make sure that my memory isn’t skewing my counting of fan blades.😁

No, where is that Oldtimer? He should be able to pull up all the factory part numbers/engineering numbers for the different years.
Or maybe he already has in another thread.

He did but what I have found is that the part numbers it lists, such as CF-C7TA-M and CF-C6TA-U, are the stampings for 5 blade fans. I’m thinking they are listed as 7 blade in the MPC by mistake since they are 5 blades, and are the only fans listed there for a 67-70 with a V8. That doesn’t mean the 7 blade fan was not available. It just shows that something is messed up…..

My 68 came with a 7 blade fan.

One of the challenges with MPC is that it was a living document. As inventory was depleted it would be updated to list an acceptable replacement part, that met form, fit, and function, and was current stock. The MPC will tell you what works, not what was original.

So I wonder if there are any aftermarket 7 blade fans. I have only found 6 blade.

For those that have the Explorer front dress a solution for lots of air movement is the Motorcraft YA220 fan and a HD clutch. A proven high flow setup provided you have a proper fit for the sealed shroud. Choose a clutch that accommodates the available space and it to too long. (My choice was a Haden 2794).
