Nat and I will be in Denver hopefully Thursday night the 11th of March and we are entertaining the thought of takin a ride up the mountain somewhere on Friday the 12th?

Any locals got any ideas? or wanna show us around?

How about a good eatin spot?

we thought about drivin up to Estes Park and spendin the night, is this a good idea with the weather?

we're on our way to Moab and want to spend the day there as long as the weather lets us across the mountain. if its bad we might go around the bottom?

what do you think Denver?

I don't live there anymore, but Idaho Springs is a nice little town right along I-70 before getting to the divide. There used to be some good places to eat there (The Buffalo Rest., Tommy Knockers, and a great pizza place). Some good trails close to there but I would think that snow would still be an issue this time of year.

Not sure about Estes Park this time of year. It would be a little out of your way. Beautiful little town though.

Wish I did still live there. I would have be glad to show you around.

Howdy...you should be able to make it through the mtns. on I70 at that time unless there is a massive front that comes through. Estes is nice but a bit out of the way if you're headed west. There are lots of little towns along I70 or just off the highway a ways. As mentioned Idaho Springs is cool and is right on I70. Also, a stop in Breckenridge and Vail would be easy as they are both on the way as well.

I haven't done much winter wheeling here. Any mountain wheeling at this time of year is going to involve lots of snow and ice.

Here's a local BB that is a good source of trail info. http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/
