Holley Red Electric Fuel Pump

I am running a piece of junk electric fuel pump (One of the small box style pumps that click and make lots of noise). I converted to an electric pump due to vapor lock issues. I am considering upgrading to one of these Holley RED Electric Fuel Pumps. The stats on this pump state: Flows 97 GPH, Preset at 7 PSI, Rotor/Vane style and rebuildable. Is this too much pressure to be running on a stock MotorCraft 2 barrel carb? Will I need a pressure regulator? Anyone running one of these pumps on their Bronco? Thanks, O'77.

I have a friend with a box of those holley vane pumps. Everyone needs a rebuild kit. He tried to give me one, I politly refused.

Carter, runs for years. No problems. Don't need a rebuild kit because it just runs. Why would you want something that is so known for failing that they list rebuild kits?

I ran one on a Maverick I drove for 10 years with no problems, they are noisy though. Every time someone got in they said "whats that", it didnt bother me then but it would now.
I have heard good things about the Carters over the years & they are quiet.
If you run an electric have a filter before the pump. That should keep it reliable. Hope it helps.

I run the the Holley Blue pumps. They are a bit noisy, but unless your exhaust is really soft you won't hear it that much. Havn't had any problems as of yet.

I have run a holly red for a couple of years without any problems, I switched from one of those small Motorcraft units after it began to fry. I figured out that the vent lines to the vapor tank were plugged and after fixing that I have yet to have any problems with my new Holly unit. Everyone else it right you do hear them. I would recomend putting a manual shut off in if you plan on running any electric pump.

We use a Carter Rotary Vein Electric Fuel Pump (# P60430) mounted back near the tank and it has worked great for years now without a single problem.

I had one of those Holley Pumps on a Nova that I shoehorned a 402 into. IT was noisy, and got rebuit often. I still have my Carter on MY EB. I installed iot in '87 WITH a filter in front of it. I was told to keep my Pump free from dirt. It has never even made a peep.

I am thinking of changing to an electric pump but have a few questions. I have both tanks operational, so where should I put this electric pump and filter? What do I do with the old mechanical one (leave it on the engine or what)? Thanks, and sorry for hijacking the thread!;D

There are fule pump block off plates available from the aftermarket. Mine is a factory part off an '84 thunderbird.

My Carter is bolted to the floor near the transfer case. I run a filter off each tank before the selector (if one filter plugs, switch tanks) and the single pump after the valve.

Wouldent ya know it my stock mechanical pump started leaking today! So now I have to consider using electric. I have always liked the basic mechanical units tho.
So whats the cheap way out for me to switch over?

I have my pump mounted at the selector switch and inline between the switch and the engine. They say to mount it close to the tank and that it is a pusher not a sucker, but i have never had any porblems.

Can I still use my mechanical switching valve? Will all this work if I use a filter out of each tank and put the pump after the switch, and then another fuel filter before the carb?

Carter has my vote as well, much quieter and more reliable.

A BB Chevy fuel pump block off plate fits a SB Ford. I looked everywhere for a SBF, even called summit, and couldn't find one SBF.

Almost every parts store has SBC and BBC block off plates.
