I did my modifications before those plates were a thing - it's an easier conversion now that they exist. Both ways work pretty well, I think.

I bought some SUPER BRIGHT LED boards from TBP in Oregon, then made my own buckets ( I pulled my small light '68 grill 2 decades ago) that are only 3/4" deep since my Super Duty cooler is up tight against them. Work great. Clear lens of course and the LED's are super intense yellow for turn and white for park.
