I'll be putting the glass back in windshield frame in a couple weeks. I've put the glass in before with using rope but have never put the trim in. Any tips or tricks for putting the tri. In with the glass.

The windshield gasket for the chrome trim will have a slot in it for mounting the trim. Put the trim in the gasket while it's still off of the Bronco. Install the glass, gasket, and chrome all at once using the rope as you did before.

Just did it yesterday and it was a pain in the butt. New gasket glass and chrome and took a lot of manipulation. A little dish soap in the slotted gasket helps it slide into place but two sets of hand would be helpful

Put the dish soap and some water into a spray bottle. This makes it easier to apply where and how much you want.

rutcutter - if your trim won't say in place someone probably tried to put it after the glass was in. Not going to go in or going to stay.

It's been about a year when I tried this. Used dish soap, made wife help me, had trim in moulding, when I tried putting it in the trim would pop out. Tried a few times, got po'd and gave up so now I have no trim in windshield. I've been meaning to try and get it in with glass in. Heard a few guys have been able to

The glass guys installed mine after the glass was in. Fought with it pretty good. Looks OK at a glance but up close looks like it could go in a little farther. I've pounded on it a few times and it's not going to be flush.

Does the trim sit tight to the rubber when installed with the glass or is a small gap normal?

I was dreading doing this today but after several failed attempts to put the chrome in first I ended up doing this and it was so simple. Laid everything out on a table. using a soap/water squirt bottle I soaked the rubber track and installed the windshield. I then soaked the bottom track for the chrome. I installed it by sliding the chrome in the rubber track from one side to the other then gently pushing in the last few inches into the rubber track. Then I did the same with the sides starting from the bottom and sliding the chrome pieces towards the top. Again the last few inches needed to be pushed into the rubber track but it was almost no effort with all the wet soap mix. The top chrome strips I did last the same way. This took me maybe 10 mins. I was shocked

Reviving this post because I made the mistake of installing the new windshield first, but I do have the proper gasket for trim.

Reading the last post, he mentions sliding the trim at one end of the gasket to the other, was this done with the windshield installed ? If not, just gonna put the trim aside, not worth taking the windshield out!

Put the rubber on the new windshield first to hold it's shape.

Put the trim into the rubber next.

install your nylon chord into the rubber lip slot.

Install the assembly on the vehicle.

Soapy dish spray works but is messy and it dry's out quickly requiring re-sprays.

I like to use Honda motorcycle spray polish in place of the dish soap. It stays slippery, and it does not hurt any paint or surface. It wipes off easily, does not smear, or streak. It's available at any brand motorcycle shop and is widely used to clean plastic windshields and visors without damage. After your nylon chord soaks up the polish after a couple of window installs, you hardly need to spray much of it on to work well.
