Yeah, it’s gonna be interesting for sure. As bent and twisted as they were, there really wasn’t any starting point to finishing point to get a good measurement. While I realize that I’m basically working bass-ackward, I’m retired and have the time for it.
If we were talking about making knives, making sheathes for them, repairing/changing handles then I would have and use the correct terms…maybe. As I’m a novice with body parts, particularly from the repair side, it’s a certainty that I’ve got a lot to learn.

Naw, you don’t need a new occupation, especially since you have an incredible knowledge base that you bring to this forum.

The only thing (s) wrong with retired is the honey-do list is longer…oh yeah, there’s less money coming in to spend on the EB.
