Brought home a 73 basket case -been sitting in a field since 1999. The plan is to do a complete resto. All new from frame up. Biggest setback I see is living in Alaska and buying parts from suppliers in lower 48. Freight costs can double the price and I am looking at a big list. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Come visit, and haul them back? Try to order large amounts of parts at a time to avoid shipping on each small, individual item? And, welcome to the forum!

Thanks, that may be the plan. Problem is we fish all summer and it gets dicey travelling thru the Yukon in winter. Lately only two seasons -winter and summer. Sorry, no more complaining!

Maybe when you do order smaller parts you can ask that they be put in post office flat rate boxes. Or if not flat rate, at least boxes that would be more reasonable than UPS or FedEx or the other typical shippers.

And welcome from here too! You definitely have your work cut out for you in the parts acquisition department. The good news is there are a lot of Broncos sitting around in the fields up there still I bet. The bad news is that by now they're not in very good shape!

Good to see more of the frozen chosen on here! Alaska Early Broncos FB group is a good resource as well.

Hi, you can try Napa or and other auto parts stores for a lot of parts. I'm surprised what my Napa has in stock. Good luck

Welcome! Yes like others said get a list of items needed and order in chunks that helps shipping costs.

The Kachemak Gear Shed there in Homer had a shipping license where you could order from the lower 48 and ship to their collection point in WA. They would then add your items to their shipments and bring them up together for a lot less than what you could ship yourself.

Check with them though, as I don't know what the program looks like today.

And welcome to the site!!
