Yes, and depends on how you count them. If you look at them as a)rigs ordered by individuals, and have b) full kit on them (FULL) - yes, theres like 3-4. One I need to get a closer look at.

This doesn't count my tampico rig which was taken from dealer stock at Pacific Ford, 1.9 mi away from Stroppes and had full Baja kit installed at Stroppes. But it sort of should... the difference is the first owner didn't spec out his truck from birth at Ford...

This 68 was on eBay and built some confusion and maybe a little serenity for some. Seller was largely unaware. But had heard it might have a Stroppe rollbar. It also had: Power steering, Auto trans conversion with adapter and cooler, steering wheel, dual shocks, flares, and an aluminum intake/4bbl.

What was the final consensus on the yellow Bronco?? Was it a Stroppe, Stroppe Kit, or just had Stroppe accessories added by PO? I remember seeing it sell on eBay for about $12k.

Yes, Id love to show up to work and have them say "okay, you're in the Bronco today, Norton..." Hahahahah

Too bad it didn't get the Baja kit til 72 when it was retired from the DOT. Can you imagine a 351W/C4/4turn power steering, dual shocked, Orange/Orange, fender flared Bronco to drive for work??

Yes, that looks to be a Consignment Baja, not a Kit Baja...

1970 kit stroppe

1970 kit stroppe. nearing completion at my shop, Beach City Broncos in San Diego. Has all stroppe options. Beautiful Acapulco blue paint. Original Calif black plates. Note the reproduction tire carrier with matching blue cactus. Sold at Westminster Ford in Westminster Calif. I have sold this to a customer but this is one I maybe should have kept. Can't keep them all, right? Mark in San Diego

That’s great Andrew. I love it when the old photos follow the vehicles for so many years.

I remember this thread. Here is another one. I found this on the Morongo indian reservation in Palm Springs. It was in a garage the last 25 years. I am currently driving it while we are finishing it. Toploader 4 speed, stroppe equipped... steering wheel, bumper braces, p/s steering, roll bar and trailer hitch. Fresh candy apple red paint with blacked out hood. I put Stroppe stickers on it. Not sure if that is appropriate or not. Some of the Stroppe guys aren't happy about it.

Thats a cool one. 4speed is great. Was that in there? My old 4speed orange white blue Baja was fun.

Regarding the decals, it's yours and you can do anything you want to it. My Tampico and the Green 73 I had that is now in Los Angeles, are the only 2 I've seen with decals. Tampico's are so patina'd out they could only be original. However now that that someones making pirated decals out of Arizona on ebay, maybe they'll fade out and look old for someones future build.

yeah, I wish the photo had followed a little closer like when John Prangenberg. was looking for info on it in 2016 during his ownership. Or when I bought the steering wheel off of it in 2014. Finally the mention of a double rollbar to Willie Stroppe on a jet flying over to Pennsylvania jogged the memory that "we only did that to the Long Beach Lifeguard Broncos; only two in 1970." That photo is in the Lifeguard assoc. building by the front desk.

Wonder if it’s the famous double main hoop with plate steel between them as a “sand guard“ type arrangement.
Designed to keep it from sinking into the sand if it rolls over with the top off.

And by “famous” I mean because I read about that type of design in magazines back in the 70s.😁
It’s stuck with me so much, that that’s how I have always envisioned doing one if I ever made a custom bar.
