I have a Koenig winch that came off my "66" 6 cylinder, it was mounted on a bumper that looks like the dealer installed unit. my question is were the drive shaft is mounted to the winch gear box there is another gear case(Koenig) mounted at right angles. What is this? When the winch was mounted on the truck the gear case was mounted on top so the drive shaft went through the grill and rad support, the winch worked fine. My other question is I would like to mount this winch on my "68" v8 but when I spin the gear case under the winch to lineup the drive shaft to pto the input shaft on the winch is pointed out the from of the rig not to the rear , can this be reconfigured without new parts. Thanks this seems long winded.

I believe the driveshafts were different between the straight 6 and the V8 versions? The dealer installed PTO on my 66 has s driveshaft the goes below the frame and under the bumper to the winch.

Thanks, I have that info. My question is about a piece that is bolted to the housing were the drive shafts in the booklet are attached. This piece has Koenig cast into the housing . I know a pic would help but I can't post pics.

I think you should be able to disassemble the winch, flip the shaft with worm gear out the opposite side. Reseal the housing. The shafts are different and the bracket with the brass bushing that the driveshaft spins in is different. I think the winch mod is easier than tracking down the shafts and alignment bearing. You can have them made too. I have an original set of shafts and alignment bearing and a set I had made for me. I think the new set is far superior, costly though.

Does your winch look like this? This one has the PTO shaft coming in through the grille with another gear box/chain case. I've not personally seen this style. I think it was Koenig's first attempt at a PTO winch for the Bronco. They are not seen often and the bumper appears to be weaker also.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/coconv/5396575769/in/photostream/ There is a better photo in the 1966 Bronco sales brochure. If you get us some pics of the winch and PTO driveshaft(s) it would help.

I looked at the 1966 sales brochure and that is what I have. I took it apart today and found a set of 3 gears inside , all the same number of teeth. It looks like if I can find a bearing housing and I will make a worm shaft and should be able to install this on my 1968. Anyone have a bearing housing?
Thanks for all the help !
