I have come across some pretty decent rattle can/bed liner/implement paint jobs for trail rigs, etc..

I'm currently on the fence, but leaning heavily toward MF Gray implement paint for my 74.. Cheap, easy, durable, cheap. :)

Anyway, anyone wanna post up some pics of thier paint master pieces?

It's not one of my broncos, but no joke we painted it with a Wagner power painter.

Not my Bronco, but a 1985 F150 I got for free cause it was so f'ed up. Lots of body pieces and a Rustoleum roller paint job later, and it's a decent parts truck / hauler.

That's not bad.. I'm debating Rustoleum roller versus implement, actually..

I guess thinned enough, the Rustoleum could be sprayed for places like the grill? Seems like that'd be a pain to paint with a roller..

Self etching primer rattle can. It did fade pretty fast though. The second photo is about 4 years later and has both broncos. The white one was painted right there in the dirt driveway with automotive paint. Cost about $800 to do it myself.

Its amazing that a crap paint job on a mustang is "great" paint on a bronco. ;D

Rustoleum has matching spray paint. Good enough prep and you can't tell the difference.

(gray doesn't show the novice bondo work as bad as some)

Sorry not a bronco, but I used to get bored with my bike regularly so I would change it up with rattle can. Rode the brown turd for a while, then used some blue metal flake in a can...the 25$ spray paint and a $100 pinstrip job.

With enough prep it can look good. Go for it!

I dipped my bronco for under 350 in materials including the sprayer. It looks 1000 times better than what you could ever get from a rattle can. 1st pic was just after dip, second was a recent pic

After body work, I prepped with Rustoleum filler primer from a spray can, sanded smooth then sprayed the paint in my garage, panel by panel, with a small nail gun compressor and touch up gun. The white is Rustoleum Topside marine paint (ordered on Amazon), thinned with acetone and I added tractor supply hardener (4:2:1 mix ratio). The black is Rustoleum satin door paint straight off the shelf at Lowes, thinned and with hardener too. This was my first time painting with anything other than a spray can, and it sprayed out real nice and easy. There are a couple spots of orange peel and a few bugs that landed in the drying paint, but overall it's just fine.

This is the one I was hoping to see posted in this thread. How has it held up so far?

I've considered plasti-dipping but I guess I'm concerned with the durability.. This will be a trail rig and will see bumps and bruises..

I'd be totally happy with a paint job like that.. :)

As I repair each area (they all need help) I rattle can it with DupliColor Perfect Match Wimbledon White. Not a high gloss finish, but it matches well and protects until such time I get around to a decent paint job.

Rustoleum sprays like a champ. Thin it exactly like the can says and then spray it. I have had really good luck with it and it will look far better than the roller job and far less sanding and buffing. It spray much better from a gravity fed gun than it does a rattle can.

Durability has been great. Very easy to clean and a lot more rugged than one would think. It does not rip or tear easily.

The cool part is repairs are easy..paint thinner to smooth out and spray. Or just peel off that one bad panel and respray.

The bronco has been driven through brush and received no damage.

I have had a wear issue on the rocker where you get in and out of the bronco. your cloth wear on the edge/lip of the rocker but it is an easy fix.

my bronco sits in the elements and is driven daily.
