Limited Slip 9 Additive

I need to flush my rear diff. I have a stock limited slip. I need to change the fluid and add the additive. Can someone tell me the correct "of the shelf" type I need? I bought it from Toms in the past but can't wait for the shipping time.

Thanks

Matt

Should have it at a Ford dealership. There is also an auto parts store, but some will argue its not as good.

If you know for sure it's a limited slip, then any "limited slip" fluid should work. Most places don't carry more than one or two brands anyway that I've seen, so you might be in luck there. I think I used Sta-Lube last time. Took two bottles in my Ford Racing limited-slip.

You'll already be aware how bad it smells I'm sure, since you've used it in the past, but just a friendly reminder to make sure your nose and mouth are in a different county when you're pouring it in!

Depending on which gear lube you're using too, you might not need the extra stuff. Did you read the bottle of what gear lube you're running?
If you're using synthetic too, you probably don't need the additive. Not because it's specifically designed for them, but because it's so slippery it's probably TOO slippery for the clutches. Mine was.

It's called "Friction Modifier" and any Ford Parts department should have it.

Well I'm assuming normal 80-90 gear lube.

Someone mentioned "blue" something or other as a brand to buy.

I had a gear swap done about 2 months ago with an E Locker up front so I'm looking to change the fluid in both diffs.

E-Lockers front and rear? I am pretty sure they do not require Friction Modifier...

I had the best luck with the Ford Racing friction modifier. On the other hand I didn't have any luck with the full synthetics that claim they are formulated for limited slips and don't require an additive.

Nope just the front. The rear as always worked perfect for my kind of off roading. The front ELocker now makes a perfect setup , for my needs rig!

Lucas products has a gear oil with the modifier already in it. You'll have to read the bottle, its not in big print.
