Its a 92 - so I'm assuming S542. Not sure how it will like this motor... without spray on it.

Its a 92 Extended Cab with power everything - he ripped out the TTB50 and stuck a D60 in its place, but that is staying with him. He replaced the BW case with a NP205 - getting the truck for a grand. I should have some scrap when I'm done - a lots of bits and pieces for my 96' Bronco, totally a deal.

1356, 1354, NP203, NP205 - all the 6 bolt t-cases mate up to it. NP205 is probably the easiest...

my wife was pretty pissed when I rolled this home. I wasn't planning on buying a truck today, but this F250 has an engine with 50K on it and a ZF transmission with 190K. wanted $800 but settled for $450 if I got it out of his driveway today. Now she sits in mine.

Need a little validation, is that good or what? Anyone know roughly what it would cost to rebuild the transmission if it comes to that?

Thanks!

You did good. I bought one for $700, sold a few parts cheap, found $30 in change behind the seat, then scrapped the truck, so somewhere in all that the ZF cost me like $230. You could get your money back out of the engine if you could document the miles on it.

X2 thats a good deal. pull the engine and whatever other parts you want and either part it out if you have the time or scrap it you'll get most of your $450 back in scrap alone. Parting out you could get more

M5OD trans

I have a 1996 f150 4x4 short box with the M5OD trans. Periodically the trans pops out of 3rd gear while coasting down hill. It goes back in gear. I don't have to hold it into gear. But obviously something is wrong internally. I have two estimates so far. $2500.00 CDN to rebuild and install or $2800.00 CDN for off the shelf rebuilt one installed.

From my research it seems as though Ford put these M5OD's in trucks right up to 2008. So I wonder if a M5OD trans from an '08 F150 4X4 will fit into my 1996. If anyone has any experience or knowledge of this I'd be grateful.

In the meantime I ordered a new shift bushing kit to install. It's a real long shot but for $50.00 bucks and a bit of work why not right?

Used to be $695 for a late version now its $795. Add $250 for a new clutch and slave cylinder. Install isnt that bad.

It could just need the top shifter rebuilt. Easy job and can find tutorials on utube. If it needs a rebuilt one I would go with Joe's recommendation. Smartparts.com does run sales on the M5OD once in a while. Ken
