The bc instruction say I might need to cut the trans output shaft, anyone know if this will be required?
Also, my kit didn’t come with the seal that’s part of the spud shaft assembly, any idea if the stock seal will work? Can’t locate the part number they mention
I did some measuring of my output shaft with the AA spacer bolted to the transmission. Then, I measured the input shaft of the Dana 20. I figured I had plenty of room for them to slide together, without cutting the output shaft. I called AA about the seal and they gave me the part #. I have it written down in my notebook at the shop. I will try and get it posted up here in the morning.
I had to trim about 1/4" off the end of the transmission output shaft. As I recall it bottomed out in the spud shaft & was pretty obvious how much I needed to cut. After trimming it all bolted together fine - Now I need to finish building the motor so I can install it in the Bronco.
So I talked to bc bronco and they said the zf swap didn’t require the seal which is why it wasn’t in the kit. I guess the zf has a seal at the output shaft in the trans. Thoughts on if the seal is needed for the m5od?
I’m using the AA kit #50-4303. The output shaft on a ZF-42 tranny I have, sticks out .750” past the mounting surface. The M5OD-M2 that I am going to use, sticks out .825” past the mounting surface. I just slid the transfer case onto the M5OD-M2 tranny and it slid on all of the way. Have seen comments about people having to shorten the ZF output shaft.
Sorry if I've missed it somewhere but I'm trying to figure out if this is going to work with the shifter position? I've only been able to read about a more forward and more rearward shifter. ButÂ…if I'm looking at it correctly there are 3 positions pictured in this thread?
The one I got is just a little back from center. I was specific to make sure it was out of a 97 4.2 4x4 f150Â…
Also anyone with the bc Broncos complete zf5 kit experience, is it simply the Dana20 kit (that the other vendors all sell) plus the cross member or is there other additions?
I am not seeing the 21-11100 kit on BC Broncos website. My kit came with the Advance Adapter kit that everyone else sells, plus crossmember, transmission mount, clutch master and slave, clutch rod and stainless steel clutch line.
