More electrical stupidness!

Okay, let's make one thing perfectly clear: I hate HATE chasing down electrical problems, especially on this 35 year old Bronco with the original wiring harness! Sigh...

Okay, three years ago, I put in a new turn signal switch. Everything worked hunky-dory. A year ago or so, the RF turnsignal and LR turn signal quit working. Brake lights and running lights worked fine, so relegated the problem to 'someday' status.

Recently, I rebuilt the heater box (new core, etc.). Had to snake that bastard out past a spaghetti bowl of old Previous Owner splices and crap. Replace the glove box liner to plastic while in there, and reattached fuse block.

Now no turn signals or brake lights work, and the emergency flashers only light up the front. I checked the two relays (TS and emergency) and they're fine. Checked the fuses, look good. Checked the bulbs, they're fine. Getting power through the brake light switch. Pulled off the steering wheel, don't see any obvious problems at the switch. Stuck a tester on it; getting power, but who knows if it's going to the right places.

If I remember correctly, the brake light power goes up through the TS switch which interrupts the signal when turning. I am definitely getting no juice at the plug to the rear harness under the hood.

I'm think TS switch, but what a huge PITA. Am I overlooking anything? Ideas, please!

spray some contact cleaner on ts switch first before you tear it out.could be just dirty contacts.also check ground wires at front and rear.fuse f2 is turn sig.fuse f5 is flashers.just for ref.

Maybe try jiggling the wires on the back of the fuse panel to see if anything comes to life? Even though your turn-signal switch could have died an early death, maybe something you did when replacing the glovebox liner has jarred something loose in the harness/fuse panel area.

Good luck.

Two pieces of good advice, guys. I suspect something got dorked with the heater and glove box repair... usually, it's the last thing you did that causes the problem you got now.

Onward and upward!
