Mountaineer/Explorer drivetrain same?

I have a buddy that will give me a 2000 Mountaineer for free. Is the front dress,trans and ecm the same as an Explorer of the same year?

I pulled my donor motor and pcm out of a 99 Mountaineer. Already had the pcm reflashed by EFI Guy.

Seems to me that more Mountaineers have a V8 as I have only seen a few with a V6 when I was looking for a donor, while a lot of Explorers have a 4.0L.

OK good to know, part of the issue is, I see 1 Mountaineer for every 50 Explorers.

The Mountaineer tends to have the metal radiator fan vs. the plastic if that's an important point for you.

That's about the same ratio out here in CO. I don't see many 2wd though.
