So the pic in my avatar was when my boys were 2 & 5 years old - I wanted to get the boys out of the house & give my wife a break & we had a camera that had a couple pics left to take(remember those days) so I stopped at a construction area & snapped the pics, dropped them off to be developed & that's what we got. Today we reenacted the photo in the side yard. Now they are 26 & 29. BoysSIDEXSIDECropped.png 20230514_184751.jpg

Added some windshield braces to my Bronco today. I started with some 1/4 square tubing that I had & a couple turnbuckles .The roll bar clamps I got a couple months ago off Amazon or E-bay don't remember. I welded a couple washers on 1 end & the turnbuckle on the other. Cleaned up the welds on the grinder & give it a flat black paint job. I then wrapped it with plumbing insulation & wrapped that with cheap electric tape. After bolting it up I went for a short test ride & it is nice and solid.

Just got home from a Cars & Caffeine event at the Henry Ford Museum(well the parking lot) & it was pretty fun. Rain was forecast around 11am & the show was from 9-11 so I'm sure that scared some people away. My son & I went for it anyway with no top(just picked one up) & no wipers(going to wire them today). I put a fresh coat of Rain-X on & watched the radar. The Baja got a lot of love & questions from the other attendees & that made it worth going 45 minutes each way.

The Henry Ford had a Model T with a driver that was giving rides around the parking lot so we did that. It was a 1923 so was 100 years old - I pointed out to the driver that my Baja was a 73 so 50 years old & we drove past a 2023 Bronco that is 0 years old. Pretty cool all at the same show. The Pinto with a 5.0 was different with the headlight lenses & lots of other bolt on stuff. The Land Rover was just imported from England a couple weeks ago & the owner was planning across country trip in it in a month. 20230708_085151.jpg 20230708_095058.jpg 20230708_100000.jpg 20230708_100005.jpg 20230708_100129.jpg 20230708_100145.jpg 20230708_100209.jpg

We headed for home about 10:30 & stopped at the Ford "Glass House" - World HQ for a few pictures before getting chased off by security(She did say she liked my truck!). We managed to stay ahead of the rain all the way home - We made it with only a little mist on the windshield & once safely in the garage it rained hard enough that we would have been soaked to the bone. It's been a good day & I still can get some work done on the Bronco this afternoon.

I added some cup holders last week before the car show so I could easily take some coffee to the Cars & Caffeine event & they work pretty good. If I was going to do it again I would use 2 L brackets - one on each end instead of just 1 in the center. the stainless bent wire holders came from Amazon & the flat 1"x 1/8"(I think) I already had left over from another project. You can also see I added a switch box for the Driving, Fog & reverse lights - still need to wire them up. I used the 2 allen head bolts that hold the "Sidewinder" emblem on I think I will like the switches there.
