Scott, great write up. sounds like a bunch of heroes and no zeros. After so much work and preparation you pulled it off. Takes a special guy to pull it off. kudos to you.
Dollars or Pesos or a big sack of both? Your wife as translator what would you have done without her. Great to take a trip like this with your best friend. Now you have to have a reunion with these guys every 5 years.
Great trip and Thank You for taking all of us with you.
There's been a lot of mention of SOLO Sports. Here's the deal. It's a world renown Kite Surfing place on the Pacific coast in Punta San Carlos. I had seen pics of it and thought it would would be a cool stop for us. The real problem with it is that it was VERY expensive - in fact, our most expensive night of the trip -- and we weren't there long enough to do anything but grab a tent in the dark, eat dinner, grab breakfast and head out. They have other things like mountain biking, etc.. and are all inclusive, but it's just not a good fit for a trip like ours. And personally, I'm beyond not having a hot shower and a decent place to do my morning business. SOLO had neither. But if you are a surfer, kite surfer, mountain biker and like to rough it, it's probably a good fit if you can stay a few days. I personally wouldn't put it on the itinerary again, but I'm not sorry we did it. This trip was an adventure, and SOLO helped make our trip what it was. Here's a pic.

Yeah, that must have looked pretty funny. Me bouncing into Loreto like a low rider.Oh man -- COMPLETELY forgot about the set of shocks!!;D;D
Is that Scorpion Bay? Looks pretty bleak.
What was the name of the place in BOLA?
Los Vientos. New owners (nice couple) bought it about 2.5 yrs ago and completely overhauled it. The husband worked in the states for Hyatt for 20 yrs, so he knows the deal. Right on the beach, Awesome bar, good food, rooms were nice and the place is secluded and very safe. If this place were anywhere else you'd be paying 3-5x the price of their rooms. Here's a few pics.
Also -- They let me use their garage area to pull my bronco into and break my 3rd member open for a peek. They also loaded all of our coolers with ice before we left for no charge. I'm pretty high on these guys (as you can tell) and hope they do really well!
