I just found your thread last night and saw that you are not far from me. I saw your rig at SC but don't know if we actually met and talked. I am about to get cranking on a frame off on my 73 just as soon as I wrap up the frame off on my sons 87 B2. Would like to meet you sometime. One can never have too many bronco friends... specially those who posess skills I don't..LOL I am planning a 331 build, was looking at Ford Strokers to do it but if doing it myself will save money, I am not afraid. Nice Bronco! BTW I have the green F250 and pulled my buddies Sky Blue Broco down on my gooseneck.

I met so many people and looked at so many Broncos...

I am in Abingdon and attend a cruise in many spring/summer Saturday evenings at exit 17 in Abingdon. I am always up for meeting new Bronco brothers ( and rock crawlers or general car guys) to swap lies with.

I still haven't tallied all my costs... But I know I am at or below the price of a built Stroker without the injection system and mine is installed, plumbed and driving. I have experience building engines and set aside a lot of time to get it done... I would say it all depends on your capabilities and depth of pockets.

I am leaving this afternoon for a trip to FL on my Harley. I would like to meet you and talk broncos when I get back some time after next Wednesday. I, like many others had many visions of grandure for mine but the reality of it is when you start figuring a budget, the visions quickly get slapped into reality. I have a 97 5.0 HO that I sourced from a wrecked Lincoln MKV. I also sourced a set of GT40 (nonP) Iron heads that I am going to use since aluminum heads are too expensive concidering everything else I have to buy to get it done. I want to build a 331 (looked at the 347 for a long time but upon reading etc. for a daily driver I would rather give up a few cubes in exchange for longevity). I figure a 331 with a decent cam and GT40 heads should be rather respectable specially when comparing to a HO or the stock 302 my EB currently has. Right now I have budgeted 30K for the whole project so any money I can save the better, means quicker time to finish as I would have less time waiting for the funds to appear.

Todd what kind of lift are you running on your tow rig? Want to lift my excursion at some point but not too crazy.

I will PM you my contact info... Always willing to help out a Bronco brother!

Not sure what condition your Bronco is in, but $30k is a pretty healthy budget and a lot of stuff can be sourced second hand on here if you are patient.

As to the 347/331, I did a lot of reading on that too and most of the issues with the 347 have been resolved... I also think a lot of the data collected was on high RPM Mustangs.

I used a 4" from Superlift. Springs, pitman arm, sway bar links up front, blocks for the back.

Most of these kits use blocks so they don't alter the load capacity of the rear springs. Unfortunately, this means stacking blocks. While I don't like it on an off road rig, I think it is fine on a street/tow rig.

I am running 35" tires and think it is the perfect look & fit for these trucks. I did bump up to 4.88 gears though. She will pull with the diesels, but you can hear the gas getting sucked out the tank to feed that V10!
